Colombo does not have a trick knee and his injury should not reoccurr. He has lost some flexibility and quickness apparently from what I have read. However he has that mean edge that Eric Williams had. I think he is about where Williams was after the accident. He was no longer a great RT but he was a very good one. Now if Free continues to look really good then we have the option of putting him at RT and letting Colombo go. BUT that means that we would have to rely on McQ to be our backup. I have heard nothing to indicate any one else has the talent to step in and not be a disaster. We learned that the HARD way in 2005. So letting Colombo go means drafting another tackle next year. ANd one that we would have to expect to be able to step in and contribute fairly quickly. THAT means a high pick- first or second rd. So there it is. NOW if McQ can put it together then we are OK. BUT that remains to be seen. As has been pointed out, Houck is a much different OL guy then Sparano was; old school and run blocking first. Sparano was a more recent guy who decided that pass blocking comes first. The O line has become VERY good at pass blocking but its run blocking ability is frankly second rate. All the current guys on the roster with the exception of the Hotel were chosen more for their pass blocking ability. So things will be interesting.

It would be foolish to pay him an exorbitant amount of money, when there's no guarantee that he can stay healthy. Not to mention if you know you have talent sitting behind him.

Marten is going the Jacob Rogers and Stephen Peterman route.

Free simply doesnt have enough lead in his arse to play RT.

McQuistan needs to get an extended look in preseason games.

RT and WR have to be 2 of our biggest concerns going into next years draft. OG, ILB as well along with FS

We didn't bring an OL coach as gifted as Hudson Hauke to cut loose a talent like Colombo and coach the young pups behind him. No, Hauke is here to coach the gifted starters and Colomb is a keeper in that respect.

If you move Leonard Davis to tackle that is a BIGG mistake.
His best position is guard and that is where he should stay.

Thanks. You beat me too the observation on Peppers. There was even some talk the Panthers could let him walk or trade him. Or maybe those were rumors floated by PFT. Still, you don't offer those rumors about a player at the top of his game. Julius Peppers hasn't been at the top of his game since the 2005 season.

If I'm Jerry I go after Peppers hard. If double digit but aging sack man Jason Taylor is worth only a 2nd & 5th, I would offer the same for Peppers.

The guy still has 4.5 speed, and at 6'7 280 lbs, maybe a change of scenery is all he needs. Rumor has it that he wants to wear the star.

Put Peppers opposite DWare at OLB .... then watch the destruction ...... against the pass AND the run.

Prove that he can stay healthy, the injury he suffered way back when was a fluke type injury which he fully rehabbed this time and he has been more or less without incidence with the knee since we let him rehab it for a seasn and he has started 32 games plus 2 playoff games since winning the job 2 seasons ago. As far as I am concerned his health has been proven.

I agree. He's playing to pro bowl standards. He had a unique situation with his recovery and the way that he rehabbed. For all intents and purposes, his knee is as good as new.

No thanks. I'll take a dose of what Spencer has got and roll with the guy that's on the upswing of his career rather than the downswing. The team that former Pro Bowlers go to suck is the Commanders not the Cowboys.

I dont think Colombo will look for TOP MONEY... I think Jerry can do something that works for both.

I think Marc wants to stay a Cowboy. Give him some fair cash.
