Alot of talk on here about moving Free to LT next year, but what about keeping Free at RT, and moving Columbo to LT?

He certainly has the right attitude for a LT, and he was drafted in the first round by the bears to be a LT I believe.

Another option? Does anyone know why this could or couldn't be feasible?

Free has played more and usually practices at LT

Colombo would be road kill at LT. He doesnt have the feet for it.

Yep.

He not nearly quick enough to handle speed rushers you see on an weekly basis on the QB's blind side.

I don't think he's got the quickness for it.

I don't understand why people can't grasp that Free is the prototypical LT. Agile, with quick feet and good smarts.

Colombo is much more suited to play RT. A big, strong, mean mauler that doesn't have to be nearly as nimble as a LT because of the types of DE (OLB) he faces. Strength is critical at RT and if Free does have a weakness... strength would be it.

Because most left tackles are pass protectors, first and foremost; consequently, the position prizes athleticism and footwork--two qualities that Free possesses in abundance.

Colombo is neither overly athletic nor nimble of foot. He's a mauler, which suits him for the run blocking of the right tackle position.

If it ain't broke...

We just drafted Brewster - RT - correct?

No idea where he will ultimately end up - but Free has always been a LT. Why not put Free back at LT and groom Brewster?

I don't get it either.

I think they just figure the bigger the behemoth the better LT.

They take in nothing about lateral quickness or overall athletic ability.

The Buffalo Bills drafted gigantic OT Mike Williams #3, in the famous Roy Williams draft, and figured that being huge would make Williams a dominating LT.

Guess not.

I think Brewster's ultimate position is greatly unsettled.

That were many that figured he to be a better prospect at guard.

What does attitude have to do with playing a positiion...... Columbo doesn't have the agility to play left tackle.... Dallas needs to draft a left tackle early, probably have to move up to get a good one next year, it's priority one for next year draft

Jerry has never drafted O lineman in the first round. Never has. Never will.

Besides given Free's play, he may eventually become Flo's replacement. That would make drafting a LT high a much lower priority. I think a ball hawk safety would be a much higher priority. But that a discussion for later weeks.

And you wonder why Dallas has had such a problem drafting offensive linemen.... So Free MAY EVENTUALLY become Flo's replecement..Thank God you're not a GM, although that's how Jerry runs a team. You know nothing about Brewster, Free has played well at right tackle, but left tackle is a different can of worms. Left Tackle is a major need, Flo's needs replaceming, and you aren't finding elite left tackles in the third and fourth rounds, just doesn't happen. There's a reason why left tackles go early in drafts..The offensee line needs an uppgradse in depth, Gurode,Davis,Flo Kosier and Columbo are all in their thirties, not a good situation when all you have that you know anything about is doug Free behind them.

No.

It's not a good situation.

And that's why I think Jerrah is going to break from tradition and draft an olineman in the first round come April.
