there is no "then he does this"

the guy is a top flight player and fans are clueless to question it.

you say crap like "then he does this" and it only proves how unbelievable clueless you are.

the crap that gets me is you aren't the exception, you are the norm.

Fans who don't get it, but have no problem opening their mouths.

I have been drinking, so I am sorry to be so blunt. But **** me man, I am so sick of "fans."

You want perfection, go spit if you think that is possible.

I don't go to games because of people like you, I would get into fights. seriously, stop talking and just learn and appreciate the game.

You're completely off-base, but I'll overlook your insulting manner since you've been drinking.

I have never been one of those who believe that Adams is a bad player (or Dallas should run him off). There is a reason that Dallas has not already replaced him, and that's because left tackles his caliber are hard to find.

That doesn't mean he hasn't had some bad games this season. He's had some clunker moments, ones that make me ready to replace him.

When I said "then he does this," what I meant is he goes out and has a near-perfect game and shows the Pro Bowl ability he has. Adams has not had a Pro Bowl season, he has lurched and grabbed and tripped and shown signs of declining skill (which should be expected). But games like the one against Philadelphia remind me of how he can still shut down Pro Bowl defensive ends.

We have no knowledge of whether anyone else we fans want to try at LT can do the same. At some point, we're going to have to move on, but when Adams performs like he did against Cole it's hard to even consider it.

Hope that sets the record straight, although I don't owe you an explanation, especially after the way you attacked me.

This is so untrue.

Adams just made Trent Cole disappear again the other day as fyi.

Flo makes way too many mistakes. Lots of penalties. Lots of sacks. Lots of pressures. Every once in a while, he can really elevate his level of play and he did a good job against Cole. However, he was horrifically bad in the NO game against Will Smith which the rest of the team managed to overcome. He was garbage against GB and Denver in two of our losses when the offense just couldn''t click. Some of you always want to remember the good and forget the bad.

Colombo is comparatively a mistake-free player. He isn't as gifted as Flo and can't play LT at all. However, he will regularly get out there and execute his assignments.

Columbo at left tackle, Adams left guard, Gurode Center, Davis right guard, Free right tackle....

Adams at left guard because he is powerful with no quick feet. So it would be better for him to get his hands on somebody and move em.

So you want to take out our best OL in Kosier so you can keep our worst OL Flo on the field?

How good do you think Flo is going to be at making all those blocks in space pulling that Kosier does?

Flo is really on his last legs right now. I don't think it is deconditioning. I do wonder how sound that knee is of his and how much it is affecting his play.

I don't understand why people can't grasp that Free is the prototypical LT. Agile, with quick feet and good smarts.

Colombo is much more suited to play RT. A big, strong, mean mauler that doesn't have to be nearly as nimble as a LT because of the types of DE (OLB) he faces. Strength is critical at RT and if Free does have a weakness... strength would be it.

I've been on the Doug Free bandwagon since preseason and think he's got a promising future at LT.

That said, listed at 6-5 313 lbs, Free does lack the size many of the league's current and/or recent best LTs:

Flozell Adams, 6-7, 338
Walter Jones, 6-5, 325
Jonathan Ogden, 6-9 345
Orlando Pace, 6-7 325
Jason Peters, 6-4 340

(Jake Long is listed at 6-7 317, which isn't much bigger than Free)

I can understand why some question Free's size and strength. But, again, I like his chances, given what he's shown so far.

I'm FIRMLY in the corner of the folks here that say Free will be at LT as soon as possible: meaning next spring. My gosh, look at Thomas of Cleveland and Jake Long of Miami: they're virtually the EXACT same size as Free and Long isn't even as athletic: really, Free reminds me of Thomas overall. Anthony Munoz was just talking on Mike and Mike about LT's getting more athletic and quick to deal with speed rushers like Freeney, Cole, Merriman, etc....makes sense to me.

Alot of talk on here about moving Free to LT next year, but what about keeping Free at RT, and moving Columbo to LT?

He certainly has the right attitude for a LT, and he was drafted in the first round by the bears to be a LT I believe.

Another option? Does anyone know why this could or couldn't be feasible?

columbo is the classic RT. he doesn't have the feet and quickness to play LT. Free is a better choice, he is got much better feet to deal with speed rusher, who often are not that big. He may not be as physical, but he is better suited to LT.

those who say Flo has been horrible have no idea of the concept. On his worst day he is miles better then Tucker was, who was the worst we had since Pozderac.

Adams turns 35 this May, so we all hope that Free can replace him asap. Adams may be able to play backup but his role as a starter should be coming to an end. he will be more and more a liability going forward at his age.

Free has proven he can play, so the coaching staff should probably consider a rotation to help the older guys not wear down. Free can play both LT and RT. Not sure about Free's contract status, but if he isn't under at least a 3yr deal the Cowboys may want to negotiate sooner...

One more thought...McQuistan has been on the team now 4 years and is listed as the backup. Does anyone know if he can play or is he simply a backup guy?

Current OL backups:
Free 26 (starter), McQuistan 26 (??? backup), Holland 29 (backup), Preston 27 (backup...who?), and Proctor 27 (backup).....

These guys have been in the league long enough to break into the starting lineup if it was going to happen...which probably means the only starter of the group is Free.
