I thought the big deal with McClay was that he was the filter. He talks to the coaches, gets the info, tells the scouts what to go look for.

Now this comes out and we still have coaches on a soap box and what sounds like a bad idea.

I am a firm believer that scouts know these players more intimately than anyone, they spend an entire year with them. Much more than a coach who watches tape for a few weeks or has one of their nepotistic coaching buddies put in a good word for them.

I understand coaches want players to fit what they want. But if they feel that strongly about a player they have not spent a lot of time with, there are other factors involved.
Oh look a negative take. From Alexander who somehow finds collaboration a bad thing.

I hope they grade everybody's input and give the ones with high grades more input. Linehan apparently loved Dak but the scouts caused the Cowboys to wait until the 4th to draft him.

would be really interesting to find out what the Scouts thought on Dak also JG and WW. BUT there is no way the Boys can brag about drafting Dak; they were clearly going to take others first if they had been available (like Cook); bottom line is that we got lucky; a lot more than we supposedly were smarter.

I generally run for the hills when I hear "committee decision" since committes will ruin a cup of coffee. But when it's a committee and jerry...it's oddly comforting.
