Comeback player of the year for Cowboys?

"Comeback" infers a guy missed all or most of the previous season IMO, so in that case it has to be Kosier. The other option would be Felix Jones.

If the intent was "most improved" player, I think thats Jenkins by a landslide. He's gone from a rookie who was up and down some to one of the better young CB's in football and a potential probowler.
Comeback doesn't necessarily imply that the player missed any time. It means that a player did not have a good season, either because he missed time or he didn't perform well. I think Jenkins actually performed well, but because Scandrick outplayed him last year, the perception was that he did not perform well.

I think it also implies that a given player was, at some point, a good performer. Young players are typically not comeback players because they haven't reached a point where they are good yet. You can have a strong season for one year but you won't be considered good until you've put a string of a couple seasons together. JMO

I agree, but given his draft status, there were high expectations. He didn't live up to them (according to the common consensus, even though that consensus is absurd) in his first season, and he "came back" in 2009.

I would call Mike Jenkins most improved, not comeback. He is already much better than Newman.

When I see the word "comeback", I feel like people who were rookies last year shouldn't count... because they aren't really having a "comeback", they're just developing and improving. Comeback implies (at least in my opinion) that they previously had 1 or more good/great seasons, fell off for 1 or more seasons, and beat the odds to return to awesomeness.

Spencer, Jenkins, Barbie, etc have definitely improved this year, but I'm not sure if I'd say that any of their previous seasons were considered "good" in order to warrant this season as a comeback. The player that best fits that description IMO is Kosier.

EDIT: looks like ABQCOWBOY beat me to it...

Kosier got my vote. The offensive line still has lots to improve upon, buth the difference in defensive players routinely getting into Romo's face up the gut on pass plays from last year to this year is like night and day.

It's a public poll. Click on the number of votes to see who voted for whom.

I voted Spencer. He really has come on and is starting to fulfill his potential.

I would've voted for Folk but....
