So I finished Peacemaker Season 2 and that last episode was horrible. I'm not even sure why they made that last episode. Almost a concert episode more than a real episode, and most of the music IMO was horrible in Season 2. I know the whole hairband thing is Peacemaker's theme, but better music in Season 1. Even Superman had some dumb music. What happened to that guy who made the great soundtrack for Guardians of the Galaxy?
All the best Peacemaker scenes were about midway through Season 2, and a little too heavy on the "kumbayah" as the season wound down. Just felt off that we now are taking these characters a little too serious. He was going for that Guardians of Galaxy vibe, but not sure if it ever made it.
Also frustrated with Peacemaker's Season 2 take on Flagg Sr after watching Creature Commandos where he was a level-headed hero. Ironically, Gunn wrote both but it doesn't feel that way as the character does a 180.
Starting to think that Gunn is not the guy for the DC franchise. I'm not happy how he put basically all his Superman characters in Peacemaker Season 2. Shared universe but c'mon now, should be two totally different vibes. I like a lot of Gunn's stuff, but not as the entire shared universe. Feels like it would have worked better if they given him the Suicide Squad, Creatures Commando, Peacemaker, etc Anti-hero branch of the DC universe and let others tackle their own take just like how Reeves did with The Batman. I feel like I'm going to get Batman as Told by James Gunn, Justice League as Told by James Gunn, etc... which is really no different than Zack Snyder who also failed, but had his own vibe with each one, enough to take away from the universe.
