10 Things Only Marvel Comics Fans Know About The Living Tribunal
By Darby Harn | Screen Rant
June 2, 2022

Collage-Maker-02-Jun-2022-10.02-AM.jpg

The new trailer for Thor: Love And Thunder added to the growing list of cameos for The Living Tribunal, a powerful cosmic being from Marvel Comics. The entity appears as a statue behind Jane Foster in the trailer, which is the third such Easter egg associated with the character in the MCU in just the last year. The Living Tribunal cameoed in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Loki.

Comic book fans know The Living Tribunal plays a major role in the Marvel Universe, presiding over the entire multiverse. This makes the entity a key figure for the MCU to explore and many comic book storylines likely play into upcoming movies and series. Given the entity's connection to the multiverse and different gods, Thor: Love and Thunder offers a chance to meet the character properly for the first time.

Living Tribunal is supposedly one of the most powerful beings in the entire Marvel Multiverse (first i'm seeing his image with hair) but i saw Dr Strange 2,
.and i don't even remember seeing him in it.

It would be nice if The Gifted was re-imagined. I enjoyed the show but it was mostly too timid in its presentation in my opinion.

Then the show got cancelled--just as Jamie Chung's character Blink FINALLY got control of her transportation abilities. That still pisses me off to this day...

yeh in just one season, and as it was developing and myself was really wanting to see where this was going, and gonna meet it's climatic ending .. boom... cancelled.

That's when i had hope a service like Netflx would pick up and continue the show, ..but then i wondered about contents and the copy rights of Disney who had just bought out
Marvel - and for the Gifted to even have a chance of a return and continuing, it would have to be thru Disney Plus, ..and it ain't looking like that ain't happening.

10 Best Versions Of Catwoman From The Comics, Ranked
By Cole Kennedy | CBR
June 3, 2022

Catwoman-Selina-Kyle.jpg

One year after Batman made his comic book debut in Detective Comics #27 in 1939, Catwoman made her debut in Batman #1 alongside the Joker. Catwoman has truly been there since the beginning, and she has become an integral part of the Batman mythos and one of the most popular characters in DC Comics.

Catwoman, a.k.a. Selina Kyle, originally referred to as "The Cat," was a cat burglar who escaped the Caped Crusader in many of her earliest appearances. In DC's main continuity, she has grown into an incredibly complex character with deep ties to Batman. As DC ventured further into its multiverse, more and more alternate versions of Catwoman were introduced, some of whom were creatures of the night or superheroes themselves.

I didn't follow Catwoman/Selina Kyle that thoroughly thru DC Comics,.. in fact i followed Seline more thru Batman the Animated Series, than i did the comic books.
Per live action my fav Catwoman portrays have been:

- Michelle Pfieffer
- Julie Newmar (late 60’s TV show)
- Halle Berry
- Camren Bicondova (Gotham)
- Eartha Kitt (puuuuuurfect voice)

I don't even remember Lee Meriweather as TV 60's Catwoman.

I could not tell if Zoe Kravitz was Bat Girl or Catwoman in the recent Batman movie - she donned black leather and that was it ...
heck, ditto with Anne Hathaway whom i thought was more Bat Girl in Dark Knight Rises ,.. not Catwoman

The article uses the word cameo very loosely. The character itself did not play an interactive role in neither the movie nor the series. Both appearances were extremely brief and abstract:

Loki: Rock formation (37:55 mark of episode five Journey Into Mystery

Doctor Strange Into The Multiverse of Madness: A brief flash between multiverse transitions as Strange and Chavez are tumbling through her portal

I hope Marvel doesn’t get too far into characters and stuff like this that they chase off a portion of their fan base. If they go too far with the ‘concept’ stuff, some fans will inevitably tune out.

My preferences are split between three types of lists:

Best Antihero

1. Anne Hathaway, The Dark Knight Rises
2. Michelle Pfeiffer, Batman Returns
3. Halle Berry, Catwoman
4. Zoe Kravitz, The Batman
5. Julie Newmar, Batman
6. Camren Bicondova, Gotham
7. Eartha Kitt, Batman
8. Lee Meriwether, Batman

Best Alter Ego

1. Zoe Kravitz, The Batman
2. Anne Hathaway, The Dark Knight Rises
3. Michelle Pfeiffer, Batman Returns
4. Camren Bicondova, Gotham
5. *Halle Berry, Catwoman

* Berry makes the list for technically having an alter-ego but who the heck is Patience Phillips???

Best Onscreen Look

1. Halle Berry, Catwoman
2. Anne Hathaway, The Dark Knight Rises
3. Michelle Pfeiffer, Batman Returns
4. Eartha Kitt, Batman
5. Zoe Kravitz, The Batman
6. Julie Newmar, Batman
7. Lee Meriwether, Batman
8. Camren Bicondova, Gotham

Agreed. I think the Loki deal was underscoring Kang the Conqueror's TVA power. For example, the desk drawer full of infinity stones was a trip. I do think The Living Tribunal flash might spark some excitement for possible future MCU appearances though.

I’m fine with them throwing in little Easter eggs for the hardcore fans, I think that’s pretty cool. But I think they have to be careful getting too far into the rabbit hole when it comes to concepts like the microverse and multiverses.

I liked "The Gifted" too. It started a little ',meh' but got better and better, seemed they found their footing and it was getting very interesting.

New Creepshow Comic Coming in September
By Cameron Bolton | MovieWeb
June 2, 2022

creepshow.jpg

Courtesy of Entertainment Weekly (EW), it has been discovered that Skybound is publishing a five-issue comic book anthology based on the Creepshow franchise. Creepshow and the world of comics have long since gone hand in hand. The film that launched the whole franchise, directed by George A. Romero and written by Stephen King (who stars in one of the segments), was inspired by the gruesome EC horror comics of the 1950s. According to makeup artist Greg Nicotero, the comics also served as inspiration while he oversaw the TV show, which is about to air its fourth season on Shudder.

"We're paying tribute to the horror comics of the '50s and '60s. These guys in the '50s were really pushing the envelope by creating these comic books that were just a little more violent, a little sexier, a little scarier than people could handle at the time, and they became controversial. But it was those comics that inspired Stephen King, that inspired George Romero," said Nicotero to EW in 2019.
The new comic series marks the second time that Creepshow has gone full circle, after the original 1982 film was adapted as a comic book, with the artwork done by Bernie Wrighton of Heavy Metal fame. Creepshow 2, which was written by Romero and featured a cameo from King, was going to be adapted to comics, but issues with the rights ultimately canceled the project. However, artist Kelley Jones has released his work on "The Raft" segment adaptation. Creepshow 3, made without Romero or King, has not been adapted, and given the film's overwhelmingly negative critical reception, most people would probably say that's a good thing.

That's good to hear, really liked that first movie. I was also a fan of those old "Eerie" and "Creepy" comics and anything Bernie Wrightson. There are good and great comic book artists, but Wrightson was god-tier.

How DC Comics Almost Killed 'The Boys'
By Maxwell Yezpitelok | CRACKED
June 3, 2022

850583.jpg

Over the decades, DC's superheroes have met everyone from the Avengers to the aliens from Alien to the Nesquik Bunny to Orson Welles. Everything's possible through the power of imagination and corporate synergy, as demonstrated by the recent movie where Chip and Dale team up with Ugly Sonic to fight the Coca-Cola bear. Or, well, almost everything. It's kinda hard to imagine Superman and Batman ever interacting with the super-psychos and omega-level perverts from The Boys. The thing is, a DC Comics/The Boys crossover already happened behind the scenes, and it almost ended the series just as it was getting started. In fact, for a short while, The Boys was technically a DC comic.

The Boys was co-created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson, both of which have a long history with DC. Robertson even drew the actual Justice League for a while, which is a little surreal to see now that his art style is indelibly associated with superheroes murdering people and having giant orgies and such.

The Uncanny X-Men': Their 10 Most Uncanny Comics, Ranked
By Maximilian Leunig | Collider
June 3, 2022

Strange-X-Men-Page-Header.jpg

They are the children of the atom protecting a world that fears them. The X-Men are a team of mutants born with unique abilities that make them some of the most powerful heroes in the Marvel universe. But, of course, their capabilities allow any form of adventure to happen, and many of them enter uncanny territory.

From characters performing epic feats for childish reasons, relationships that require a severe double-take, to bizarre supervillains putting the team through the oddest possible scenarios. The X-Men have faced all-comers throughout their almost 60-year history, but not all are the most dramatic: some are just strange.

5 Underrated Superhero Movies That Aren't Based On Comics
By Joshua Kristian Mccoy | Game Rant
June 3, 2022

push-sleight-graphic.jpg

Comic books are an extremely varied and interesting medium that occasionally generates groundbreaking narrative decisions and world-changing characters, but they are far from perfect. Though the superhero attained its initial fame as a concept from the paneled page, the cinema is the current medium most fans expect to see classics and new favorites.

Pieces of art that take inspiration from source material without adapting it directly often have a unique direct line to the type of story they wish to tell and more freedom to tell it their way. While most superhero works will be tinged with elements of comic book storytelling, some of the most interesting examples begin their life on the screen.

10 Biggest Changes DC Made To The Comics With The New 52
By Margaret Rojahn | Screen Rant
June 3, 2022

New-52-Justice-League-and-Agent-37.jpg

When DC Comics announced a total renumbering and reinvention of their comic titles in 2011, critics and readers were intrigued. The focus of this reboot was to simplify and streamline the decades of Crisis contradictions and confusing storylines. And from a sales standpoint, the New 52 was a rousing success.

Many of the fans didn't agree. Complaints were made about the new origins and directions of the characters, histories were re-written, and personalties changed drastically. Some of these changes were unsuccessful, as their drastic implementation was a difficult barrier for fans to overcome. Other characters thrived in their new continuities.

Scarlet Witch's Marvel/DC Crossover Made The Ultimate Comic Sorceress
By Liam Mcguire | Screen Rant
June 3, 2022

Zatanna-Scarlet-WITCH-COMBINATION-HERO.jpg

The Amalgam Universe shared between DC and Marvel Comics created some powerful heroes and villains, but few were more intriguing than Scarlet Witch and Zatanna Zatara's combined form, the White Witch. In Dr. StrangeFate #1, Wanda Zatara was introduced as a powerful magic user tasked with tracking down a hero stuck between two worlds. The antihero was a combination of two of the most fantastic magical comic book characters into one incredible new form.

The Amalgam Universe was a joint crossover between Marvel and DC Comics, where iconic heroes and villains were merged into one. The event saw the likes of Captain America and Superman becoming Super-Soldier, Dr. Strange and Dr. Fate becoming Dr. StrangeFate, and Wolverine and Batman becoming the singular hero, Dark Claw. One thing that connected both universes was a hero named Access, the only character that both publishers own together. In Dr. StrangeFate's attempts to track down the Multiversal hero, he called upon his greatest agents, including White Witch, who was part Scarlet Witch and part Zatanna.

10 Ways DC Has Hurt Superman
By David Harth | CBR
June 3, 2022

Collage-Maker-01-Jun-2022-0434-PM.jpg

Superman created the superhero genre and allowed DC to become the biggest comic publisher in the Golden Age of comics. Since then, Superman has become the most well-known superhero on the planet, a piece of modern mythology that stretches back to heroes like Gilgamesh, Hercules, Arthur, and more. For a long time, Superman was the most popular superhero, selling more books than anyone else and conquering all forms of media.

Those halcyon days for the Man of Steel are long over. Superman is still an icon, but his fortunes have changed a lot, and a big reason for that is DC. They've made some decisions over the years that definitely hurt the character in many ways.

Good news, we’ll all be able to rewatch it soon:

https://variety.com/shop/doctor-str...ness-disney-plus-watch-online-1235283628/amp/

June 22nd, less than three weeks away. The turnaround from the years to streaming gets shorter all the time. :omg:
The ever-decreasing turnaround from big-to-small screen takes me back to when I was a teenager. I was thirteen in 1977 when I saw Star Wars for the first time. HBO did not reach my hometown until the following year.

I just *knew* a movie that great would be available on HBO in short order. ha. Star Wars did not hit HBO until almost Christmas in 1983.

George Lucas held a stranglehold on films' release to home video (the movie did come out a year earlier on VHS) and cable, so the example is on the extreme side. Even so, I always think back to how long it took for that particular blockbuster to hit cable and compare to how quickly it happens now.
