Note how Black Adam is more of a draw attention than Shazam-- Captain Marvel himself.

at least i get the vibe that Black Adam it will be serious oriented ...and not a slap comedy joke of a film.
To be fair, Dwayne Johnson's onscreen presence automatically demands attention. He will instantly attract the audience, regardless if he is playing a super hero character or not, as opposed to some guy who once played Chuck.

However, I agree 100% about the serious-orientation of the trailer. I have STILL not watched Shazam based primarily on the comedic look of its trailers. One day I will (probably sooner than later now that Black Adam is coming soon) but I will not be in a good mood if it pisses me off whenever I do watch it, lol.

I just watched the trailer and unfortunately it gave me too much of a Zack Snyder vibe.
I am okay with the Snyder vibe. Johnson's trailer narration is what makes me uneasy.

Hopefully it does not carry over to the film. Some movies are great for narration. Goodfellas. Fight Club. It does not work as well for every movie though.

Right now, the trailer narration has me thinking what The Rock's been cooking. I want my focus 100% on the new role Johnson is playing without his wrestling persona echoing in the back of my mind.

That looks like it could be really good...I just hope there's a comedic moment where he sees a poster of Shazam.
I wished the poster was the real thing. That particular hero versus anti-hero matchup would have me rooting from the anti-hero side. 100%. lol.

It didn't show until I hit "reply". I'm guessing there's an actual poster that also didn't show. I'll scroll back and check.

Nope. There was one image that wasn't showing earlier, but it's not there now.

DC Comics Introduces the New Justice League in Dark Crisis #1
By Jesse Schedeen | IGN
June 7, 2022

GoCoyjA.jpg

As the Crisis event in the DCU, Dark Crisis is about the fallout of the Justice League's destruction and Pariah's attempt to destroy reality and restore the multiverse as it existed prior to the original Crisis on Infinite Earths. Of the many heroes who confronted Pariah and his brainwashed team of villains in Justice League #75, only Black Adam has survived. In the absence of Kal-El, Bruce Wayne, Diana of Themyscira, Barry Allen and the other elder statesmen of the DCU, new Superman Jon Kent is forced to shoulder his father's heavy burdens.

Jon wastes little time after the Justice League's collective funeral before attempting to build a new Justice League. Surprisingly, though, that new roster doesn't include a Wonder Woman, a Batman, a Flash or a Green Lantern. New Wonder Girl Yara Flor makes it clear she already has her hands full. And as for Luke Fox, the newly minted Batman of New York City? He views teaming up with other heroes as a mistake that got Bruce Wayne killed.

In the end, Jon assembles a surprisingly eclectic bunch of heroes that includes both established veterans and young up-and-comers. And if the new League can't have a Batman, at least it has Robin and Harley Quinn.

The Walking Dead: 10 Things From The Comics Too Graphic For TV, According To Ranker
By Hanna Glafke | Screen Rant
June 9, 2022

With part three of the eleventh and final season of The Walking Dead airing sometime this fall (the official release date has yet to be announced), fans are wondering what could happen in these last episodes of the long-running series. Will it follow the same shocking end as the comic books, or will it continue diverging from the source material and have a completely unique ending?

The TV show has been notorious for deviating from Robert Kirkman's original graphic novels. Despite many fans' protestations, the show continues to be popular and maintains a dedicated fan following. While there are countless events, character deaths, and character arcs that were changed in The Walking Dead, Ranker has defined the moments in the comic books that were too graphic to put on the TV show. Despite the changes, the live-action show has been exceedingly successful over the years.

REVIEW: Dark Horse Comics' The Ward #1
By Sayantan Gayen | CBR
June 9, 2022

The emergency room is one of the busiest places on earth at any given time. But what if the patients weren't human, per se, and the physicians attending them had an encyclopedic knowledge, not only of human physiology but of the paranormal? Dark Horse Comics presents a tale about one such institution that caters to all manner of monsters. Spearheaded by the creative team of writer Cavan Scott, artist Andres Ponce, and letterer Mauro Mantella, The Ward #1 opens a new world of wonders, featuring a new form of medical drama.

The Ward #1 follows Nat Reeves, a typical nine to five office worker, on her way to run errands when her elderly neighbor, Wilfred, looks to her for help. A young woman is lying in a pool of blood with mysterious wounds all over her. Nat gets right into the action, enlisting Wilfred's help to stop the bleeding while she calls for an ambulance. But she soon realizes that this woman is going to need a special sort of ambulance. As they rush to the hospital, the ambulance takes a detour and phases through a wall to enter the premises of St. Lilith's, the first and only infirmary specializing in the care of "preternatural" beings.

Netflix Settles Copyright Lawsuit Over Fish-Headed Villain in ‘The Umbrella Academy’
By Winston Cho | The Hollywood Reporter
June 9, 2022

Umbrella-Academy-AJ-Carmichael-Still-Everett-TCDUMAC_ZX032-H-2022.jpg

Netflix and Dark Horse Comics have settled a copyright lawsuit from comic book artist Kevin Atkinson alleging the idea for a fish-tank headed villain in The Umbrella Academy was lifted from him, according to Atkinson’s attorney.

Details of the deal, filed on Wednesday, were not made public as the filing is sealed. The agreement was reached less than a month after the judge overseeing the case granted Netflix’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit for a second time. Atkinson was given one last chance to fix his claims but opted to settle.

Atkinson sued last year claiming that the source material, published in 2008, from which Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy is adapted, copied his design for a character that first appeared in 1996 in his Rogue Satellite Comics. Both characters are villains known for having talking fish in bell jars as heads with normal human bodies.

How many 007 actors also starred in comic book movies?
By Hassan Green | We Got This Covered
June 9, 2022

FLVTgAQXEAA1Ojm.jpg

On Tuesday, the long-awaited trailer for the upcoming DC Comics movie Black Adam was released to the masses. This spectacular movie stars Dwayne Johnson as the titular “antihero,” along with a supporting cast consisting of Aldis Hodge, Noah Centineo, Sarah Shahi, and Pierce Brosnan.

The trailer was received well by the public, but it was Brosnan’s appearance as Doctor Fate, a member of the Justice Society of America (JSA) in the DC Comics universe that stands out the most above anything else in the trailer. He is also an integral part of this upcoming movie’s plot, hence his obvious appearance. Not to jump to serious conclusions but from the trailer, it appears as if Doctor Fate has a considerable role in Black Adam becoming the character that he’s known to be.

Brosnan is already getting high marks for what looks to be a spot-on portrayal of Fate and perhaps this will be a role he’ll be remembered playing for many, many years. However, most people — if they’re old enough — will absolutely remember him for playing one of the greatest action heroes in cinema history, 007 himself, Bond … James Bond. In four films, spanning from 1995’s GoldenEye, to Die Another Day in 2002, Brosnan wore the classic tux, equipped with the standard-issue Walther PPK, and stylishly brought the British super spy out of the Cold War era into the 21st century.

But did you know he’s not the only Bond actor to have a role in a comic book movie during his career? Below are the rest of the men who donned the most famous tuxedo in movies and also played movie characters who originated straight from the pages of comic books.

Daniel Craig — ‘Cowboys and Aliens’ and ‘The Adventures of Tintin’

Season four of HBO Max Original Young Justice: Phantoms just wrapped with episode 26. There was no cliffhanger in the final minute (after the ending credits) but what is shown in the last 60 seconds makes one thing is certain.

Fans will riot if there isn't a season five. Seriously. They will.

Wasn't there an old 70's series show of Shazam and Isis back in da day .. ?

Yep. Saturday morning stuff. Billy Batson was played by an actor who looked like he was old enough to enlist in the military. It was an okay show to me.

Isis was not that much better but I liked it more than Shazam! The actress looked the part. And it did not hurt that she looked gorgeous after she transformed into the superhero (or at least I thought so).
