The Washington Commanders organization has lost the fan base
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Today's booing is just a symptom of how rotten and awful this organization has become.
Scruffy put a great post in the other thread talking about booing, that none of the players on this team have won jack squat and therefore we as fans won't give them the benefit of the doubt.
However, I don't think the fans today were just booing what happened today. 9-7 games against inferior opponents have happened before, yet we take the win in stride, cheer and move on to next week
This week it was different though, for many reasons
The terrible display against the Giants last week. More of same ole same ole that we saw last season
The whole Washington Post article on suing the fans and selling to the ticket brokers
The terrible personell decisions made by whatever front office we have
4 playoff apperances and 1 division titles since 1991
Skyhigh ticket prices, horrible game experience
Seeing our division rivals completely outlcass our team on the field. If not for the Cowboys ineptitude come playoff time, we'd have nothing
Just the overall lack of anything to get excited about with this team
We have officially entered into "malaise" as a fan base. Groundhog day with the offense, soft defense, overpaid players, mediocrity.
Joe Gibbs essentially bought Dan Snyder 4 years of goodwill. Fans like myself were willing to give coach Gibbs the benefit of the doubt, because a) we adore the guy and b) he had won, and won big. We would have never boo'd a 9-7 win with Joe Gibbs at the helm
Now though that safety net for the organization, and Dan Snyder is gone. Joe Gibbs is no longer around to protect the organization, and with that Dan Snyder has quickly lost the fan base.
Think the secondary market for tickets suck this year? Just wait until another 7-9 or 8-8 season this year.
Think the Pittsburgh game was just an aberration? Just watch the division games this season.
When you have players satisfied with "hey we got the win" or just satisfied with collecting a paycheck, that tend to mope around and not lead, tend to talk about the "haters" rather then get the job done, its real hard to cheer for them
When fans like myself, eternally optimistic, have had it with every facet of the organization, and actually want the team to lose to the Rams today in hopes that the embarrassment will cause Dan Snyder to make serious changes, well there are big big problems in Commanders land
The organization is rotten to the core. And its quickly losing the fan base. Today's booing was just the latest symptom of it

Not this fan. Any fans that are being "lost", our organization is better off without. Good riddance fair weather fans, fans who care more about tailgating, etc....I'll still be on board when we next scale the mountain.

I love this team just about more then anything, my entire life has been centered around the Commanders
But lets be honest here, its very hard to even turn on the TV and cheer for these guys when they put the product on the field that they do.
I watch the Commanders to have them win, and hey give me a little bit of a boost. Its fun. It used to be a lot of fun.
It hasn't been fun for a very long time now. And I am gonna boo if I am at the stadium

I don't think you're wrong SHF. This is a very passionate fan base. If we end up with a losing season this year it will get really, really ugly. Wouldn't be surprised to see some boycotts like we saw in Detroit a few seasons ago.

It's a terrible, pretty evil organization, run by a man whose corruptness is matched only by his complete ignorance about the game of football.
The front office is despicable and the laughingstock of the league. The coaches are utterly clueless. The players seem to think they are much better than their play indicates - never has a group that has won so little thought so much of themselves. How many more times do we have to hear some dimwit on this team tell us that they're close to being dominant? Are you freaking kidding me? This is essentially the same team we have trotted out on the field for the past 6 seasons - and it has never won ANYTHING.
As a fanbase, we are rooting for memories from 20 years ago. Besides a few players who seem like decent guys, there is NOTHING to like about this team.

We need change, and it needs to happen in the front office, and trickle its way down.
But I'll still be behind the team.

To the OP - terrible statement. YOU ARENT A FAN IF YOU WANT YOUR TEAM TO LOSE.
On the other hand, I am glad they won, would have booed throughout the game, but not at the end. Absolutely poopy playcalling, Campbell looks nervous as poop half the time, and you get a running game going and don't utilize it (playcalling, again). Terrible.
A defense that holds a team to 7 points, and the offense can't put up double digits on a PATHETIC defense...DESERVES TO BE BOOED.
Yes, booing will happen consistantly if this team doesn't wake up.

Its passionate, and very quickly getting up there in age in terms of people who actually witnessed and remember success
I was 9 years old during the 1991 season. 10 years old when we beat the Bills. Its one of my favorite child hood memories that 1991 season, watching every game with my dad and celebrating the Superbowl win.
I am pushing my late 20s now. I can't imagine the people younger then me, who are fans, and what, if anything, they have to hold onto
In all honesty, from 2004-2007 Joe Gibbs is what kept me from strongly criticizing the organization. I still supported everything we did, because it was Joe's decision.
Now tell me why on earth I should give anyone in the organization from Dan Snyder to Robert Henson, any benefit of the doubt?

To each their own...but I just disagree. It's a sport. You either turn on the TV/show up to the game and care or you don't.
I still get excited for every game and care as passionately as I did when I was 10 years old. I have more perspective these days (being married with kids), but I care just the same.
The Commanders are the Commanders. I will love and support them because I can't help it.

^^^ Dead on. Us younger fans don't have those Super Bowl wins to look back on and smile at. We got nothing.
Great post SHF. I agree with you 100%.

Do or don't...it doesn't matter. But losing some fans that are fed up isn't the same as losing the fanbase. Not even close.
Hopefully they give you a reason to stay. If they don't, I hope you find something else to fill the void and scratch that itch.

To anyone who disagrees with SHF that the Organization has lost the fanbase... I'd simply ask a basic question. Does the organization, from top to bottom, get any benefit of the doubt from the fans anymore?

I didn't say it'd happen soon! But I'm hoping I have a good 50 more years on this planet!
