We still have the most sound defense in the league...what kills us and makes our D look bad in the stats is the long runs we've been giving up this year. Every single game we hold the runningback to horrible yards and then someone on our D overpursues and makes them look like they had a good D. Once that mistake gets corrected we will be in top form again. Our secondary has played very well the past couple of games.

I disagree with your opening statement.

I've seen most of your games.

Your defense is very solid, and you have a very good scheme. But it's far from dominating.

You cannot get pressure on the QB without blitzing (and even then, you still get very few). You cannot force many turnovers.

You tackle well, you keep everything in front of you, and you play solid run defense. Your defense is designed to not give up the big play.

Your defense reminds me of our defense two years ago. Solid, but not spectacular.....you get the job done.

Our defense, on the other hand, is forcing TOs, getting sacks, and stoppng the opposing team. We've stopped LT, Portis, Barber, Westbrook, and now Alexander. We've held QBs like Brees, McNabb, Manning, and Hasselback to numbers far below their averages. We kept Randy Moss, TO, and Burress out of the endzone.

We've played our best defense against some of the best offenses. And this defense is just learning the scheme. We start two rookies on defense, and three others are major contributors that will eventually start.

We're good, dominating, and will get better.

I never said the Cowboys D is not good. I think they are easily a top 5 D. All i'm saying is that the Skins team gets a TON of 3 and outs and every once in a while teams seems to have found a way to make the big play on us. We'll get this mistake corrected.

About the no pressure part...when were the skins every able to get pressure with their front four? We haven't blitzed at all this season and when we do we come away with 5 sacks such as the San Fran game...even though their line sucks...lol okay bad example. Our weak point is Warrick Holdman...he's a linebacker and got ran over by freakin Barlow...this guy sucks and is the odd man out on this Defense...half the run plays that were given was his fault.

My take, Cowboys 10-6, Skins 9-7. I think the deciding game will be The Washington Dallas game late in the year. It will be very hard for any team to sweep anyone in this division this year. The teams are just to solid. We still have to play Denver and KC but they are both home games, I think that gives us the edge. If we go to the break at 5-3, which we should, then i see loses at Philly, @ Ny and Carolina,, that one is iffy though,, I think we are better but it has the markings of a game we could give away again. on the other hand,, I see loses @ny, @ philly and home loses to S.D. , Dallas, and the iffy game for the Skins is the Tampa game, not sure how they will respond to The QB being out. Thats how i see it turning out.. of course that and 50 cents gets a cup of coffee.

Tampa and Carolina are getting too much love in your post.

Tampa has faced no one and ran (typical for the car) Cadillac to death, he needed to go to the service bay far too early, not to mention the loss of their starting QB.

Carolina has looked average at best all season. Defensively their overrated secondary has been burned, and they are banged up. Offensively outside of Smith they have been nothing to write home about.

Yeah that is what I mean. You can't say their defence doesn't blow games if you consider the Giants' game a blow for us. In a similar sense, our games against Seattle were identical except the Seahawk last minute FG missed against the Commanders and was made against us.

so on another similar note, why did the Commanders defense hold us from a potential GW FG when we lined up right at midfield? we couldnt even manage a single first down with plenty of time left

the fact of the matter is we had a 13-0 lead against the Commanders and the DEFENSE gave up two almost uncontested tds, both of long distance...teh DEFENSE allowed an eventual conversion on 3rd and 27 and a long TD on 4th and 15...the DEFENSE yielded 24 pts and nearly 400 yds to a team that most weeks hasnt even managed half of either of those totals...the DEFENSE allowed the Giants to score a game tying TD (at home even) in 2 plays...the DEFENSE allowed the Seahawks to go 81 yds in less than 2 minutes, never forcing even a 3rd down attempt to score a game tying TD

you win games by scoring more pts than the other team...there isnt any rule that says "you only win the game if your offense scores 21 pts or more"...the fact is we had the lead in the SD game, and the defense had to hold on for dear life in the end...we had a 13-0 lead in week two, at home against a team that hadnt scored a TD in 115 minutes of football play, then gave up two tds to lose...we watched the worst team in the league roll up 24 pts and nearly 400 yds against us with a QB that was benched three different times, replaced for good by a totally lost rookie and then traded away for a bag of peanuts...we watched the defense meltdown late in the Giants game and then meltdown again vs Seattle, costing us wins both times but being bailed out against NYG because they lost the toss in OT

the defense totally blew two wins, and nearly cost us the game in three of our four wins
