Actually, you can find Cowboys fans all over DC... it's rare that I make a trip into the Metro area that I don't find a few people sporting Cowboys gear...

On the flip side, I took my Skins fan cousin down to a game in Dallas back in 92, and he wandered around Irving the day before in his Skins garb... not only did we not see ANYBODY else dressed that way, little old ladies were coming up to him and giving him grief for what he was wearing... it happened at the Piggly Wiggly, it happened at the Whataburger, it happened at the bowling alley we stopped by to shoot a few games of pool and get out of the heat...

You can find lifelong, diehard Cowboys fans just about anywhere you go, but 99.9 percent of Skins fans live within an hour of the Beltway... NOBODY else cares about them around the country...

Trust me man, i live in the DC area and its loaded with Boyz fans. Its so bad that Foreskin fans simply hate it. We are deep in this area.:laugh2:

Just thank God I have to stick to the tame stuff in here...

I suspect Hos would be capable of a higher level of malevolence but for the rules in here, too... he would have been REAL popular back in the glory days of the Cowboys' newsgroup... we had an assortment of true flame warriors over there, we absolutely brutalized some trolls...

We had one who was actually a Cowboys fan, but a troll nonetheless, and a student of Norm Crosby, the king of the malapropism... one of the other regulars with whom he was arguing happened to mention he was from Tennessee, and the troll decided to mock him by talking about the suicide rates in Tennessee, which he'd apparently read somewhere was quite high... only he talked about the "suicide rats"...

Whereupon I created the Brotherhood of the Suicide Rats, wherein each member took one of the troll's malapropisms as his club name... I was Brother Quiji, after a reference to somebody using a "quiji board" for his predictions; another was Brother Hanus, after a reference to how "hanous" we were for pickin' on him...

Brother Hanous was the one who came up with the killer bit for that particular flame war... he made up the Ballad of the Suicide Rats, to be sung to the old title song of the movie "The Ballad of the Green Berets"... I can't remember all of it, but it was howlingly funny... I do remember the first two lines (try to remember the song from the movie here):

Rodents plummet from the sky
They hit the ground, but they don't die...

After the success of that bit, Brother Hanus declared himself the programming director for radio station KTRL ("Playin' the hits for troll pieces of... well, you get the idea")... one other troll made a nonsensical post about marrying a "Mongolian pygmy", Brother Hanus dedicated the following song to him:

It's Mighty Big O' Me (To Marry a Pygmy)

I miss those glory days... sadly, the 2000 election pretty much ruined it... never has been the same since then, lots of the regulars (including me) moved on... I think the best thing about that board is that it was totally unmoderated, literally anything was fair game in there... we policed ourselves, by "ganging up" on folks who went too far...

At its height, it was a vulgar, raucous place, full of a bunch of really good guys/Cowboys fans... you could get all the flame war you wanted, but you could still get good Cowboys info...

I got to cuss all I wanted, too!!! :D

Ah well, if I was spending the time in there that I used to, I wouldn't have time to spend in here... you guys think I post a lot in here, you have no idea how the posts can flow when there are 5 or 6 trolls demanding my attention... LOL...

It simply amazes me how you cowboy fans put down my owners moves,i dont agree with all his moves..but since he took over he has 2 playoff wins on his belt and in that same time frame jerry jones has none..and its been since 96!!!

wow in 11 years......uhh thats great obviously we have been there a few times 3? maybe 4? and just have not gotten it done once in the playoffs its not like were going 5-11 or anything!

I guess we are a little different here. Most BOys fans are only satisfied with SB wins. Just little playoff wins mean very little to us. Not suprising that skins fans put so much stock in one or two playoff wins over a 10 year period. Its not like they have had anything else to celebrate.

No, the only fair way to compare them is 8 years to 8 years. There is no doubt at all that Snyder bought a better team than Jerry did. None at all. In 1998 the Commanders were 6-10. In 1988 the Cowboys were 3-13.

Snyder's Commanders...8 years.

1999...10-6, 1-1 post season.
2000...8-8
2001...8-8
2002...7-9
2003...5-11
2004...6-10
2005...10-6, 1-1
2006...5-11

In those 8 years you've had 2 coaches who will be in the NFL Hall of Fame. 59-69, 2-2 in the post season. Those are your Owner's first 8 years.

Jones' Cowboys...first 8 years.

1989...1-15
1990...7-9
1991...11-5, 1-1
1992...13-3, 3-0 World Champions
1993...12-4, 3-0 World Champions
1994...12-4, 1-1
1995...12-4, 3-0 World Champions
1996...10-6, 1-1

In those first 8 years Jerry had no Hall of Fame coaches. 74-50, 12-3 in the post season and 3 Super Bowl Championships.

How are they head to head you ask? I'm glad you asked.

1999...Jerry 2, Danny 0
2000...Jerry 2, Danny 0
2001...Jerry 2, Danny 0
2002...Jerry 1, Danny 1
2003...Jerry 2, Danny 0
2004...Jerry 2, Danny 0
2005...Jerry 0, Danny 2
2006...Jerry 1, Danny 1

Head to head Jerry 12, Danny 4.

Stand in our shadow and shiver from the cold boy.

This post delivers...

Hostile; those stats about our overall record against the skins is awesome. I know we are not allowed to repost, but could you just break the rules and break out those stats every time a Commanders fan opens his piehole? Because then they really would have nothing to hang their hat on.

I got a lot more too. That wouldn't be considered a repost though. Just slamming the door on their fingers when they try and peek in the clubhouse.

But he tried! Didn't you know that Snyder offered Davis more money than Dallas did?

Really, and where did you find this information?

With the Skins cap situation, what makes you think they would be able to afford giving him such a lucrative contract?

If I recall the situation correctly, Davis chose Dallas over Washington because he was offered more money; the Skins were looking to use him at guard while the Cowboys are going to use him at tackle, which in most cases garners a larger contract - Steve Hutchinson being one of the few exceptions.

Also, I think the fact that he's from Texas didn't hurt. :)

Don't know where you got the idea the Boys are going to use Leonard at tackle, he's gonna be their right guard, taking Marco Rivera's place...

Well, when I was looking up articles about the Davis signing, I ran across one from USA today that stated that he was going to play tackle - my mistake.

"Free agent offensive lineman Leonard Davis told the Associated Press that he'll decide between the Commanders and the Cowboys.

He'd play guard in Washington and likely right tackle in Dallas. Tackles usually get more money, which will help determine which way he leans."

That article was speculation on what position he was going to play.

It was widely known by any dallas fan that he was brought in to play guard and has been stated that he will play guard by the cowboys fo.

My favorite stat is our teams head to head in NFC Championship games

You know, for a chance to go to the Superbowl, all the chips on the line

Commanders are 2-0 in those games ;)

And thats why gentlemen this is the best rivalry in sports

I remember the article that misled you, obviously that led to the honest mistake...

No biggie... I often get the gaps in my data filled in by posters in here...
