This is a clear cut "Clean the house situation". Everyone on the coaching staff should be gone.

If I were a HC and found that we were trading for Wentz, I'd immediately resign. I'd be losing my job anyway, so, I'd probably resign in protest.

good point. I still don’t understand why Jeff Saturday would take a job with the Colts with quarterbacks like Matt Ryan and Nick Foles……..doomed from the start.

Rivera's a good coach but that team is in disarray. He should be fired.

It won't make a difference. The entire org is in disarray too.

Because Saturday would never get a head coaching job anywhere else? The least qualified coaching hire in history possibly, at least modern history.

They probably had to offer him a lot of money. I think he knew he was screwed, but the Colts were probably very desperate. They should have tried to hire Ted Lasso haha.

Rivera is lost. He didn’t know about OT ending in a tie and had no clue they could be eliminated today

I don't believe he didn't know OT could end in a tie. He's been around football long enough, he'd have to be brain dead not to know that.

Doomed? One has a SB ring and the other played in one. He was asked to take the job.

I suspect he wants to get fired at this point. Snyder is a horrible owner. He's just recovered from cancer a few years ago (God bless him for that). He's been having to carry Snyder's BS. He's had to wade through two name changes, the worst stadium in the league, a fan base that seems to be shrinking, a series of crap QBs, playing in a hard division, and having everyone being nastier to him than we ever have been to Mike. If I were him, I'd resign for my own sanity and find a new team to coach or be a DC for a few years. Just to get away from Snyder.

True. Rivera isn't the worst coach, but how can he not know their playoff status? That is nuts.

As far as the team, it won't be good for a while. Until the ownership situation gets fixed, who would want to go there? I can't imagine any Coach that is an up and comer being interested. Would seem like the only ones that would are retreads that don't have any other chances to be a head coach or people not qualified in the first place, like Matt Rhule.

My guess is that he may have known that, but he wants to get out of Washington. Dealing with Snyder must be horrific. As much as we complain about Jerry, at least he's not Snyder.

Great, now they'll be all fired up this weekend and ready to play. Might not matter though.

Going to Wentz smells totally like a Snyder call. He wanted him there and wanted to have Carson finish the playoff run to look good.

I actually thought Rivera may have done enough to save his job but honestly, I'm not sure now. (lol)

He is done.......they are shipping him out of town. This is 100% on Rivera......to think he could get some from Carson that other coaches couldn't.

Glad to hear this, but the Giants making the playoffs get me sick! Fans here in NY, actually think they can go on a run as they played the Viking close.

And while some franchises are melting down, we see elite quarterbacks like Brady and Rodgers lead their teams to the postseason despite having flawed and injured rosters

these elite dudes are like herpes and luggage…..just can’t seem to get rid of them

to be fair to brady, that is the worst division we have seen in decades. any competent qb makes it out of there.

Carson Wentz and whomever made this decision burned the entire franchise down to the ground yesterday.

Heineke had a 12/6 TD/Int stat in 9 games compared to Wentz's 11/9 TD/Int stat line in 8 games....Heineke also took 19 sacks to Wentz's 26....and while their Comp %'s were similar Heineke had a 7.2 ypa average compared to Wentz's 6.4....lastly Heineke as a starter this season was 5-3-1 compared to Wentz's 2-6 record.

So while Heineke is not a Top 10 QB, he was the clear QB that should have started and the only reason Rivera might have started Wentz is because he is simply clueless and should be fired immediately.

As for tanking for Bryce or Stroud, Washington currently stands at #14 in the NFL draft and have absolutely ZERO chance of getting anywhere near a Top 5 pick so unless they trade the farm to move up do not expect Washington to get either of those players. The best Washington can possibly do is move up slightly to grab Florida QB Anthony Richardson who at 6' 4" 232 pounds and running possibly a 4.5 40 yard dash could be the boom or bust pick Washington needs.
Start Wentz to intentionally tank for a top QB in the draft.
