Commanders meltdown

Living here in the amazing Nation's Capitol, I can't explain how great it is to hear these fans humbled. After they beat the Eagles, the fans and talk radio hosts spoke of them being able to beat any team in the NFC and having a legit shot at going far in the playoffs. That nonsense continued as they barely scored 20pts each week and squeaked out wins with a very limited QB. Heading into the first Giants game, they actually spoke of their path to a Super Bowl here in DC. "We can beat the 9ers and Philly. Dallas is Dallas, they aren't any good." Blah, blah, blah.

Listening to The Team 980 is a joy after a Washington loss. This being "Dallas Week", it will be even better to hear the defeat in their voices. Lol
How do you stand the smell? I use mentholatum up the nose when I'm around badly decomposed bodies but I don't know if that would be enough for Washington D. C.

i worry this game maybe a game where the commandos decide to take out their frustration's onus lie a bounty bowl situation and not sure i want our starters playing because one we know NY is laying down for Phily, I saw so many payoiers limp off the titams field and that got me worried..cant affed to lose any of them..like Dak or the OL..

so what's the point?

2 we can out many BUs in and still have shot to beat this team without risk to many of our core players.

not sure how MM is handling this but im super worried we have to play a game against a team who is pissed and have zero to lose or play for , whole NY is protecting players and want to just get through the game.,,.
Im sitting Dak and most of the OL, Lamb, schultz, Parsons, diggs, and tank. pulling other out in the 3rd..

this place had all this praise for Rush well let him malik and makeshift OL go out and win the game..

Wentz did the same thing last year in Jax. Win and your in and he played horrific. If anyone gives him another chance as a starter the jokes on them.

I actually thought Rivera may have done enough to save his job but honestly, I'm not sure now. (lol)

Rivera is safe for no other reason besides the sale of the team.

I don't know the time frame but given we're now in January and it's week 18 in a few days, the vast majority of firings will happen next Monday.

That means all of the preferred options at head coach will be gone long before any sale is complete. In addition, all of the better options to fill out a coaching staff will be gone as well.

Even if the sale was finalized the day after the Super Bowl, that's probably still too late because it's way too much of a time crunch between then and the senior bowl, scouting combine, pro-days and the draft. Rushing the firing/hiring of a complete coaching staff probably just exacerbates all of the issues they have.

By far it makes more sense to go with Ron in 2023...probably trim payroll a bit, ie, Wentz, Samuels, Leno Jr., Roullier will be cut, saving a whopping $57 million in 2023 cap space and $50 million in 2024 cap space.

In addition, I'd consider trading a few guys Kendall Fuller and Montez Sweat will probably get you late second day picks or possibly early third day picks and save another $20 million in 2023

DaRon Payne is the tough one, he's a free agent and he's going to get a monster deal, but Snyder may not want to sign that check on his way out. The team may franchise him, they'll have the space, but again, given the circumstances of the sale, I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't tagged

He is done.......they are shipping him out of town. This is 100% on Rivera......to think he could get some from Carson that other coaches couldn't.

They will make him the scapegoat for the disaster that franchise has become.

This pleases me.

As much as I've always hated Washington, it must really suck for the fans. They were so proud in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and were a classy and high achieving organization.

They've literally done nothing right under Snyder's leadership.

Snyder is trash frankly...they're lucky he's selling the team. Can't do much worse with a new owner.

A new owner could bring in a regime change, but if I were guessing, he will get another year with a different QB at the helm. A Jimmy G. or Carr more likely than a rookie.

I hope they keep Rivera and Wentz. I also hope Synder continues to be the owner. I would hate for them to make changes and bring in people that gets them organized. I want Washington to continue being dysfunctional.

I have an idea. Change your name back to the Red Skins and remember your great history.
The Commanders have no history and I see them as a new franchise.

Any HC that would allow Carson Wentz to lead your team should be fired immediately!!!!!!!!!

Ron seems like be very much like Wade Phillips.

Comes in and dominates early and everybody loves him. It runs out after year 2-3

I liken these type of people as ones who have an expiry date. The food is fresh and good, and then boom it goes sour.

The most famous of all the sports coaches who exemplified this Mike Keenan, HC in the NHL. That guy was good for a season or two max. By the end he had threatened and screamed enough at his players that they would start to tune him out, and then his expiry date would begin.

I live around their fans and i get tired of hearing about the superbowl and then popping fireworks EVERYTIME they win

good they meltdown now they can just go back to focusing on if Dallas loses since that also is like the superbowl to them
