A new coach retaining someone that was already on that staff is a little different than a coach having assistant(s) forced on him with no say. There really aren't many instances where a GM hires an assistant from outside prior to the HC being hired. It's also a rarity when a HC wants to hire an assistant, but the GM overrules him and hires someone else.
