I know this has been said before many times, but I cannot believe Skins fans and the way they do a 180 on their attitudes towards others over a few ballgames played.

It started out that they wanted Gibbs' head and the Skins needed a total makeover to winning some games at the end. Now, instead of just feeling somewhat optimistic and hopeful about their team, they act like they are going to steamroll everybody.

Never saw a more delusional fan base.

Meanwhile, Cowboys fans look at a 13-3 record, and find myriad reasons for discontent... at times, I wish Cowboys fans were a bit more like Skins fans are... it gets old, this always seeing the negative side of things...

None of that goes on here in Dallas Nation I am sure.

Not like with Skins fans, it doesn't... there is no football message board on all of the internet that comes CLOSE to Extremeskins for pure, blind homerism...

We have some fans who are that way on the Cowboys boards, but you'll find that they're generally ridiculed by the majority of the board...

I'm in agreement with ya. The only problem is this team has shown quite a bit of inconsistency over the past couple of years and we never know what team is going to show up to play. Some fans can't take that and go over the edge.

Explain why the Skins' defense actually improved without him, then...

1: Sean Taylor wasnt, nor was he ever going to be, the player Darren Woodson was. That's not even taking into account the vast difference in character between the two.

2: I get so sick of hearing how pro teams "overcome" things like this. Virginia Tech overcoming the murder of numerous students is one thing, but professional athletes who get paid MILLIONS to play a GAME for four months a year have no excuse to not show up and play their hardest. What the Hell were people expecting, that they would just lie down and give up? These guys are in a business. If a co-worker dies, you dont just stop doing your work or do your work with any less enthusiam. It was a terrible tragedy to have a young life cut down in its prime, but this Commanders team did nothing exceptional, they simply did what they get PAID to do. I hate few things more than hearing about big-shot athletes getting so much more credit than average joes for things we all go through simply because they are athletes and are famous.

I for one am getting pretty sick and tired of hearing about Sean Taylor. Was it a senseless tragedy? Of course it was. A 24 year old young man getting killed in his own home is senseless regardless whether he plays professional football or digs ditches. No doubt about any of that. However, Foreskin fans, especially on ES, seem to deem him a football god. He was a good player. He wasn't a great player. He might have become a great player, but he wasn't yet. I understand trying to use his death as motivation, but they're taking it way too far. Saying stuff like Taylor is looking over them and will guide them to the Super Bowl. Please!!!!!! Let the guy and his family rest in peace and get off the ridiculous stuff. The Foreskins will go only as far as their talent takes them, and that ain't very far.

Oh, I understand the phenomenon, Rowdy... this ain't my first year on message boards...

I just get tired of all the gloom and doom... at times, those yahoos piss me off, at times I actually feel profoundly sorry for them; if they can't even enjoy THIS season, how in God's name are they EVER gonna get any pleasure out of being a Cowboys fan?? I've been with the Boys for 48 years now, and they've only rewarded me with 5 Super Bowls, so I'd be one sour individual if the only thing that gave me pleasure was Super Bowl victories, wouldn't I??

I kinda wonder if any of them will reply... I was, honestly, rather surprised with what my research revealed on this one... but the numbers are right there, and you can't come to any other conclusion than the Skins' defense played better-- and fairly significantly better-- without Taylor in the lineup...

If he was so "great", how come the Skins' defense improved when he left the lineup this season??

In 9 games before Taylor got hurt, the Skins were giving up 313.5 yards per game, and 21.5 points per game... in the 7 games after he went out, they gave up 288.6 yards per game, and 16.7 points per game...

Generally speaking, teams don't show such significant improvement when they lose a "great" player...
I think there are a couple of reasons. First, a team often bonds when faced with adversity, and I have seen a higher level of play from Taylor's ten fellow starters since he went down. Losing your best defensive player can focus players who try to pick up the slack. Certainly, a case like Indianapolis is an example where faced with the loss of his favorite receiver, Manning began to look more to Gonzalez and his other options who stepped u[p to the challenge, and the team hasn't missed a beat. I would say the way we lost Taylor has focused the team more than a run of the mill injury. Second, we have cut down on the turnovers, which would at least in part account for why we are giving up fewer points. Third, Gregg Williams decided that we were able to win the one-on-one matchups most of the time, so he shifted from using the cover two to man-to-man where Smoot is much more comfortable. Fourth, Sean Taylor is influencing the games from Heaven:).

We used cover two in our first game against you. It wasn't until ST's death that Williams shifted to man-to-man. Since you brought TO up, I think he would be the perfect person to ask about how great ST was. TO was terrified of him.

Source? Link? :lmao2:Come on now! Unless you can back that up, you're going to be labeled as a pure homer around here.

Wow, people really gotta slinging the mud over this. I love the Cowboys and I know we rested players and it was meaningless, but the professional players from the Cowboys got one yard of rushing. At least acknowledge they beat us badly with their what second or third string qb and without Sean Taylor. that impresses me a Cowboy fan. That game was ugly. A least for the second stringers from Dallas who may not be around next year it should have meant something, to me it showed a lack of pride.Again that is just my opinion, you might see it differently..

What I don't get is why you still want to talk about this. There were plenty of people dooming and glooming right after the game for a couple of days. We're past that now, except for you. Why is that?
