Concerns about 2018

Sure do. The majority of the offensive snaps will be taken by who? Hurns, Gallup, T Will, Beasley..

Which of these guys is a burner?
None of them so I was hoping I missed something or you know something we don’t.
Don’t get me all excited like that.

Austin is a burner and he can be slotted out to run the seams. He is a LB, safety mismatch.

It should be crystal clear what the plan is for the Cowboy offense this year. They are going to commit to
a run first, run often team that uses the play action pass for their passing offense only when needed. Zeke and Bo
will pound the rock behind this expanded group in the OL to just wear defenses out and keep the chains moving.
Dak handing off and using the RPO quick pass game will keep him from getting pounded so much. I have no clue at
this point whether the defense can improve but, if their offensive game plan succeeds, the defense won't have to be
tested that much. Our coaches are a definite liability to our success but, I'm hopeful that Kris Richards begins to take
over in the backfield and away from Marrinelli whose style is now passe' in the NFL.

I'll start out by saying that I have no qualms with moving on from Dez. I wouldn't have signed him to the last contract in the first place.

I feel as though the answer for replacing Dez, his production, but more importantly what he brought to the offense was let's bring in as many average wide receivers as possible and competition will drive home the best talent, and that talent will be conducive to having success in the passing game.

In reality, it will be very difficult for so many receivers to get on the same page with Dak and when ultimately we break down to 5-6 with 3 being primary. This is almost the exact same problem they had with the LG position, and by the time they decided (first they made the wrong choice) neither player had really received enough first-team reps.

I do think that these receivers will be more "dak friendly", but the resources they've had to use to get these receivers could have been used to help us in other areas.

I don't love the LVE pick. I don't think finesse linebackers, particularly on MLB work. I really hope to be wrong about this guy, but I don't love the pick. Especially behind our defensive line that doesn't have the size to let these linebackers make a ton of plays in the backfield.

On the fence with Williams. I hope he works out because our offense is going to need great line play.

I like the drafting of Mike White. He is everything Dak isn't. Not that I think he is going to replace Dak, but Dak will likely see him excel in the very points where he needs to improve. Should hopefully help push him to improve and he needs to improve.

We went offense in 2 of the first 3 picks. I think that was a mistake. Garrett continues to sink resources into the offense, because he doesn't want the defense to outpace him. If we don't make the playoffs next year and we have a top 10 defense but a 15-20th offense... Garrett is fired.
Wow, you only like 1 pick of the bunch. So much negativity. There are so many here who think they know more than the Cowboys. Real easy to criticize from your recliner.

You spout off this stuff about Dez but never back it up with any thing to prove it. Doesn’t matter if you like him or not, the bottom line is he’s the 2-3 best WR in Cowboys history. And guess what? I can back it up all day long with any stat you want choose?

I do agree with you about Marinelli, so hey we agree about something..

I guess I can understand your logic now on other subjects because I see that you believe because a player is drafted higher he is the better player. WTH is this world coming to. We can sit here and name player after player who was drafted lower or not drafted at all that are some of the greatest players of all time. Either your trolling again, or you need some draft101
TO had the stats too.

I don't think Garrett overruled anyone in day 2. It just happened that the defensive guys they wanted were off the board, or were behind the guys selected at 50/81.
They liked Gallup enough to consider him at 50. They liked T. Moore(Safety) but he went before pick 81 IIRC.
Connor Williams at 50 was good value. Once at 81, they(Garrett, McClay, the gang) decided that Gallup was the guy cause they are quite high on him.
Hell, they could of taken a second 3rd round pick and traded up to get that Armstrong guy. Which would of made the day 1/2 picks a 50/50 percentage for offense and defense.
IIRC every defense pick they had Kris in the room/on the phone. LVE, Armstrong etc... So I believe he has input on every position there alongside Rod. They just don't value those 2 down guys who just clog lanes.
Felt like the guys they would of considered were Vea,Payne and maybe Phillips, cause they had the quickness/explosiveness of a 3 tech, but could survive at 1 tech. But 2 of the three went before 19 and Gallup was higher on their board than a guy like Phillips IMO.

I too have concerns about 2018. A lot of new faces at WR, limited time with Dak, and now his security blanket is calling it quits. Maybe a new guy will break out, hopefully.

LVE is a guy who IMO will not look ready day 1. Hopefully by the mid point he starts making splash plays, but IMO he's a guy who will need a year before possibly being that "stud" at MLB. A more ready MLB would of been Evans, but LVE has that ceiling that few possess. The question of how attainable it'll be for him is tbd.

I agree with most of that, although I love the LVE pick.

I just don't see more than 7 wins for this team this year. I think the offense will struggle and I don't think the defense has improved that much.

Real easy to criticize looking at 2 playoff wins over a 20 year period.

Sure for those who live to criticize and can’t see the progress or just don’t want to see the progress because it doesn't fit their agenda.

I’m not sure if that would be good or bad to be honest.
Thompson is 29years old. In 6 seasons he only has 77 catches and 4 tds in his entire career.
Tavon Austin has less than 9 ypc in his disappointing career.

Nothing to get excited about with these 2.

I think one or both may surprise.

Dez completion % 50 everyone easier nearly 70%. Until I see differently i won't have concerns with Dak connecting with WRs. Not saying there will not be issues or I don't understand the concerns from anyone else but it's hard for me to believe that the passing game is gonna be worse this year even if Witten retires

I have real concerns about Raine Dakota Prescott taking this franchise to where we all want to go. Let’s hope last year was an aberration, sophomore slump, one-off, or whatever you what to call it, but year three will be very telling if he is the long term answer.

His accuracy concerns are very real and warranted.

Aikman basically stated on draft night that accuracy is almost never correctable with quarterbacks.
Man,when in doubt, revisit his rookie game against Pittsburgh,,, when #4 hits that ' rarefied air' of game cruising play,,,he CAN BE THAT MAN!o_O
