We went 12-5. Led the league in takeaways. Won the NFCE and went 6-0 vs division rivals. Defense greatly improved. “#1” statistical offense in the NFL. On paper— all reasons to think we are an NFC contender going forward.

And yet. On a scale of 1-10 (1 low, 10 high)— where is your confidence in this franchise right now?

Me? I am a 2 trending towards a 1 this offseason.

Reasons?

1. JJ and the FO.

2. KM running the offense.

3. MM being brought back and then immediately undermined (see point 1).

4. Bad contracts to under-performing players (point 1 again)

5. Culture and team mindset issues (yep— point 1)

6. Lots of FA losses likely, followed by minimal FA gains

7. Rivals are likely improving, while we maintain status quo.

Bottom line: This team could go 17-0 in the regular season and it wouldn’t matter to me because they have crapped the bed so often in January.

So where is your confidence in this team right now?

Seems like last year at this time, many fans and the media thought the same thing. Just as every year. Fans always look at the worst. Especially the group on here.
Seems everything is a Debbie downer type thread or in not, it gets taken over to be one.

I understand it it to a degree.
I am not expecting some great off-season scoop of FA's, and the ones we sign of our own is just depth. The draft will need to be a lucky one, to get this team over the top in the playoffs. What are the odds of that. Not real good, unless, as I aid they get very lucky.

Even at that, as I said, we go through this every off season, fans in doubt, hanging theirs heads, saying how we suck...again... As last year it was bad.

Though my confidence is not great, but not poor either. I still expect them to be competitive, and favorites (as of this point) to win the NFCE. Since they are the current NFCE champs.
After FA and the draft, will re-evaluate.

Confidence level as of now, a 6. Because there are so many FA's, and this team does not play well in the FA game. We will lose more than we gain.

This team usually follows up a good season with a spit the bit one. The team will also be less talented because of their cap issues unless they just nail the draft and find 2-3 immediate impact players in it. I don't trust McCarthy, he should have been canned. Jerry was so mad about how we spit the bit early in the playoff game, he did ZERO about changing anything.

5 because while I have zero faith in them knowing how to build a champion, they still find a way to put enough talent on the field to not totally suck like spitting out 4-5 win seasons consistently.

EVERY Offseason

debbie downers doom and gloomers all with super-duper opinions that they know more than the DC FO and have all the answers IE a bad year coming they have the Nostradamus syndrome. knowitall egomaniacal whiney little fan base :)

Irony is deep here with all the alleged self-proclaimed experts in money, cap, and for sure they believe they are a better player personal group than the actual thing..yet facts are not one person in here is an NFL employee of a team , are Front office or coaching position and many ie most have never ran a Team as an COO, CFO, or the like, for any professional sports franchise but they have google so they right :)

Confidence level at this point is pointless. Until I see what they do in free agency and who we keep and who we draft then your list becomes maybe a thing. Frankly, like all fans, I want a Super Bowl but yet 12-5 and a playoff game is worth far more than 5-11 or 4-12 seasons or any season not in the playoffs. Always a fan regardless and always critical of a lot of the FO moves but a winning year and in the playoffs I will take in a heart beat.

8. They were 6-5 outside the division and 1 and done in the playoffs again. 17 points at home.

9. They will not be as good an offense, part of the time, as they were in 2021.

I have the same confidence level I always have in this brain trust. They do not have to win and act like it.

Paper tigers, who beat up bad teams and went 1-5 versus teams with 10 or more wins, despite all of those impressive statistics.

Given the Jones boys' history, and what they're presently doing, my confidence level remains low (as it has been for years now).

3 playoff wins in 25 years. 4 total playoff wins if you want to start the year after we last won a SB.

The front office has given Cowboys fans every reason to doubt they know how to build a championship caliber team.

3. But it is still too early to tell. We could have a solid free agency and crush the draft.

No repeat winners in the East in forever, toss in Philly has 3 first rounders, Giants have two and Washington seems poised to land a big name QB like Russell Wilson. So a repeat seems highly unlikely.

I will remain optimistic and we need to reevaluate this question AFTER the draft.

Given the aging OL and a hand full of bad contracts I think the window is closing. Despite that they seem to have no urgency. Some key spots need a lot of attention this off season. Jerry is off to a REAL bad start with the handling of Cooper so I am getting a bad feeling. The roster still has a lot of talent so I think next season could be pretty good. Beyond that...not feeling positive at all. I guess I am a 3.

I'll give it a 6.....because they are in a weak division that they are still the best team in.

That gets them a likely home playoff game, and just maybe one year they get lucky and things bounce their way come January.

Sadly, I don't think the actual Jones plan differs much from this.
