It's a pretty bad situation if the de jure punishment is markedly less than the de facto one.

Looking at the Titans roster and two deep I see 53 players and no Pacman Jones listed. So they will have to cut someone to make room for him if/when he comes back from suspension.

Tank was employed when suspended, he is not retired, he wants back in.

He may not be able to serve the suspension until he has a contract (although that is hardly a prerequisite from what I've read so far), but that doesn't mean the situation is cut and dry. Noone has the correct answer on this, anyone acting like they do is just blustering. You can make a decent guess, but none of us can know.

I live in Illinois so I have heard and read just about everything on this issue. Tank is suspended for 8 games which can be reduced to 6 games with good behavior. Well he was pulled over in Arizonia while on this suspension but the Dui charge was thrown out. Still out at 3 in the morning getting pulled over doesn't look good. His suspension does not start until he is signed by a team. That also goes for whatever they do with Vick if he is cut by Atl.

Maybe if you keep citing those examples you'll eventually realize that they do not correlate directly to Tank Johnson. He was suspended while under contract and then cut. We have not seen anyone come back from that situation, and therefore noone can speak definitively on the subject citing any previous parallel.

You are not "right". Nor are you "wrong".

Noone is. All we can do is try and see all sides.

wow. i'd think he'd count on the roster as part of the punishment but that does punish the team some.

There were a couple of e-mailers suggesting the Cowboys should bring back wide receiver Antonio Bryant. Well, just remember, whoever signs Bryant must make room on their 53-man roster for a day – meaning cutting someone – before Bryant goes on reserve/suspended to serve his looming two-game suspension.

if i read this right he'd be counting on their 53 man roster...anyone know for sure?

Yippie I made the list.

I have listened to reason and it is still not 100% clear. I don't know if he has served or hasn't. I can see it going either way based on everything I have seen. I lean toward that he has not yet started serving his time, but to me it doesn't really matter. Like I said earlier, the best case is that he has started his suspension and still has 7 more games to go and that still does not help Dallas right now. That is why I don't see him as a viable option. If he has not started serving his suspension, that just strengthens my stance that he is not a good option for Dallas.

FWIW, I never said he wouldn't have to serve the 8 games after signing with a team, just that he would have a good case if he tried to fight it.

I can't prove that he's already served 1 game. Luckily I've never argued that point. I have no idea if he has or hasn't.

You, however, have argued that he hasn't served, so the burden of proof doesn't just magically disappear.

Not offended at all Hos. I can just see both sides of the coin. Either one is plausible. I don't think that anyone of us know the exact answer considering the circumstance.
