*CONFIRMED post #238, pg 16* Tank Johnson Would Be Available to Us In Week 9

I have never played an NFL game in my life, nor have I ever signed a contract.

I just like to think they suspended me once I graduated high school.

304 games and counting....... Maybe I should apply for reinstatement.

For those that missed it the first time

Not much to reply to, one unnamed official believed this to be the case?

Many other links show this is not the case

Damn, I wished for suspension from the Police Department here in Tucson. I could have been an NFL player instead of a cop. I feel so foolish now.

Someone care to explain to me how Thurmanns case means no contract = not able to serve a suspension?

You fail to understand that the release never stipulated anything about his contract. In short I dont need to because the statement stands on its own.

WTH, why would the release from the Bears mention his contract? He was already a member of the team so obviously the release would not mention anything about his contract. Common sense once again alludes you

Thank you this is specific information pertaining to Johnson stating that his suspension began last sunday.

Again seems that he will be available in week 9.

Thats not what that article said LOL

Let the backpedaling commence. Why would a Bears official think that if not having a contract precluded Johnson form serving his supension. I mean why wouldnt a Bears rep have better information than anyone?

what backpeddling?

you're putting your entire argument over an unnamed source making an offhand comment in an article.

maybe this "unnamed" source is wrong? ever see wrong information in a an article before?

now you're riding the coattails of an "unnamed source" and getting all happy.

you're just beyond pathetic dude.

So youre saying a Chicago Tribune didnt talk to someone in the Bears organization. The other links are by Spagnola and Spags has shown a proclivity towards not knowing league rules. His comments on Vick and gambling were just flatass wrong for example.

Its a credible source from someone closer to football than any of us.
I'm going to bookmark this and remind you of it the next time you disagree with a reporter on something.

Ive seen some people talking about how he wouldnt start serving his suspension without a contract when this is clearly not the case. He is out for the first 8 weeks and then is available to play the following week.

If we need help at DT by then i say we sign him but if Remi and Ratliff are working out go ahead and pass.

i heard on the radio we was in talks with him

:lmao2: No "The Bears" did not say that, an unnamed person said he "BELIEVES"

Yup that is unrefutable LMAO

its a bears official ie someone in the Bears organization as reported by the Chicago Tribunes beat reporter.

Point is that its not this slam dunk common sense that you guys are claiming. Im saying that its prudent to keep an open mind concerning the issue. Im more than willing to accept that Goodell can choose to say that Tank has to wait but Im also open to the possibility that the league has already started the clock.

And if youre going to try and make digs at me dont use my material. Its pretty sad.

Thurman already served his suspension while under contract you dolt

He is STILL under contract

he was named as an official in the bears organization froma report by the Chicago tribunes beat writer for the club. im not saying its infallible but can you at least accept the possibility that it might be true?

Okay everyone listen up.

Ms. Hunter from the NFL offices called me back. This is exactly what she said, word for word.

"Tank Johnson's suspension is a rolling suspension. He has served 1 game of his 8 game suspension."

I was dead wrong and I eat the crow I promised I would. Serve it up.

Knocks against Tank.

-June 22 arrested for DUI

-December 14, 2006 weapons charge stemming from the December raid as part of a deal with prosecutors that kept him from serving more time in jail. He was ordered to serve 45 days, which he served concurrently with the sentence for violating his probation.

-December 16, 2006 Two days after last December's raid, Willie B. Posey, Johnson's bodyguard, was shot and killed in an early morning fight while he and Johnson were at a Chicago nightclub.

-February 12, 2006 charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest after allegedly verbally threatening a police officer

-November 2005 arrest after a Chicago nightclub valet reported seeing Johnson with a handgun in his SUV

Who wants this guy on our team anyway?

He messes up and messes up and has failed to learn from his mistakes.

I'm all for second chances, but enough is enough.

Those of you that think he will not mess up again (as a Cowboy) are delusional and I'm glad you don't have anything to do with the Cowboys organization.

This guy is a distraction that we don't need!

http://www.nflgridirongab.com/2007/07/31/interest-in-former-bear-tank-johnson-waning/

We all know that former Bears Tank Johnson got released recently on a “driving while impaired” charge in Arizona. We also know that Johnson served jail time on weapon charges predating the Arizona incident. But as Paul Harvey of radio fame succintly put it, there’s “the rest of the story”.

Johnson said a while back that “I will move on to look at another opportunity with another NFL team and make the most of the opportunity when it comes.” While that’s all well and good, it appears that none of the other teams in the National Football League want to take a chance on Johnson.

And in my opinion, with good reason. Consider this - if the Bears had waived Johnson wrongly, then some team would’ve considered him. Just the fact that no team has expressed any interest in him infers that Johnson had some lack of respect of the Bears’ coaches and his refusal to follow team rules and regulations.

As of right now, Johnson has an eight-game suspension hanging over him; the problem is that he cannot serve the suspension until he is on a NFL roster. That alone makes it highly probable that Johnson will not play football this season. With the crazy amount of money that NFL players make in this day and age, one would think that they would show some restraint and common sense in their off-the-field activities. But this calendar year has been a banner year for the NFL. With Pacman Jones and Michael Vick being the poster children for “NFL Athletes Gone Bad”, Johnson’s mishaps only add to the stigma that law-abiding NFL players have to put up with, which is unfortunate.

there - a link to a verifyable source should trump your unknown dude in a story somewhere.

at the very minimum it's back to a stalemate of stupid info flinging.
