As regards Bellicek- he did not win the SB did he? He has not won one since Crennel and Weis left. SO frankly James you can pin on Bellicek not being able to get by without his trusty sidekicks as well. They even missed the playoffs this year with an 11-5 record. WHich is pretty bizarre in itself but still: ever since his staff got shaken up after the last SB win BB has not been as good. I think last year was a freak thing in going 16-0; they had a lot of breaks go their way but it caught up to them in the SB.
So by not winning the Superbowl, that somehow takes away from getting to the Superbowl, finishing 16-0 and appearing in the AFC championship game 2 years ago? Are those not accomplishments? How many teams could go 11-5 after losing their starting QB, playing in the tougher AFC and starting a backup who had not started since high school let alone having to adjust the offense to the new QB's strengths? What is more of freak accident, a team going 16-0 in the regular season and making a Superbowl appearance or a Giants team that was a wildcard that lost their last game of the season to the Patriots and won three games on the road in the playoffs? The Patriots were the #1 ranked offense and 4th ranked defense in the NFL last season so their record was hardly a "freak thing." The Giants, on the other hand, were ranked 16th offensively and 7th defensively. What has Romeo Crennel and Charlie Weiss accomplished without Bellichek that comes close to mirroring the above? Thus far, Crennel was fired and Weiss was nearly fired. SO any reasonable person can come to the conclusion that Weiss and Crennel rode Bellichek's coat tails because Bellichek has been successful without them while those two have not only not done well, they have been terrible particularly Crennel.
