On the one hand, you can applaud Norv. He's done well for himself. The Chargers played a heckuva game today. So you can't sneeze on that.

But to put some perspective on it. If he'd coached the cowboys and had gone 8-8 in the NFC East, they prolly wouldn't have made the playoffs. Same as this year. If they'd started off 4-8, we'd have had more CowboyChris sightings than what we did.

yeah but they had to finish well to get in the playoffs, and they did finish...they had ALOT of really close losses that could have went either way, and they have had a bunch of injuries.

they are winning playoffs games and we are sitting home...he's doing a far better job

I think evntually people will come around to what alot of us always believed, that Norv was in two awful situations before. Now that he's in a good one, he's doing a good job.

I am not going to claim I wanted Norv instead of Wade, because honestly I was fine with either. But I did firmly believe Norv would have been a good, solid choice and I think he's proving that now. His impact on Romo and our offense would have been huge.

put me in a good situation i'll do well too. but that wasn't created by norv, he just found a way to work in what he had.

it's a fools game to think norv would be a play off coach with our team over this last year.

The problem is, we are always the ones left looking for "perspective".

Perspective on our QB
Perspective on our in house squabbles
Perspective on our big game defeats
Perspective on why different style coaches don't really make a difference for us
Perspective on why we stay with captain cupcake.

How about this? We all knew what the rules were when the season started. Win your division and you are in the playoffs. Chargers did. Cowboys didn't.

Norv Turner is a good coach, period. Congrats to Norv, and for us, one more big heaping spoon full of "perspective."

this was an epic bad year for us. we've all got a lot to learn. but norv would have made no difference here, people jsut like to pretend and make up stuff cause it's fun i suppose.

thats hogwash...The guy is a great offensive coach and does wonders for just about every QB he comes in contact wih. You honestly believe Romo would still be the undisciplined turnover prone mess he is with Norv coaching him? You think our running game wouldnt be better?

The fact is he is winning playoff games, where as we are not and the guy that coached in San Diego before him didnt either.

fine. so believe what you want/need to believe.

the situation in SD is not what we have here in dallas. these parts are not exactly interchangable as "fans" make them out to be.

I think you are outta your mind, but you are entitled to your opinion

there's no way this offense would look as bad as what we've seen the last 6-8 weeks, and there's no way Romo would have regressed as a player either

If the Cowboys were in the AFC west they would have won it. That division sucks big time.

so norv would have handled all the egos on this team w/o issue.
norv would navigate jones so well.

we pick norv and we're fine.

i disagree. get mad all you want but i refuse to see a winner in 1 situation an instant winner in a very different one.

if they had lost badly you could be justified to complain about their sucky division, but they won...it just sounds like sour grapes

I REALLY REALLY was rooting for Norv ESPECIALLY towards the end.

I wanted Norv to stick it up Jerry's backside.

I'm not mad at all, I'm happy for Norv. He deserves to have some success.

Maybe had he been here Jones wouldnt have made some of the moves he did, like trading for Roy Williams. Or maybe Norv would have convinced him to dump Owens.

Whatever, nobody can convince me our offense wouldnt be a huge juggernaut with him coaching it. Romo would be a much better QB today.

I havent done that, not sure if others are. It is what it is. They are in the playoffs and we are not. They are winning playoff games again and we are not. They looked like a better coached team tonight than we have in quite some time.

I gave the chargers props they deserved. SD is playing in a weak division and played well down the stretch to put themselves in position to advance. I applaud them.

However, I just don't think that Norv's performance in SD would've flew over well here. The situations in SD and Dallas are totally different. Again if he went 8-8 in Dallas, the 'boys would still be sitting at home. Would you still have been happy with him, then?

you still have TO around.
you still have jones NOT changing just because norv vs. wade is here and you want him to.

this is a very different situation. i'm happy for norv, sure. but i'm not nieve enough to pretend his success there would be the same here.

or miami
or tampa
or ny
or the skins

it just doesn't work that way.

On Phillip Rivers...

I know he'd just won the game and "winning changes everything" but he is a pretty fiery guy (sometimes to the point of making dumb comments). When he mentioned how Norv continued to push them when some guys wanted to throw in the towel....that sort of bummed me out because while they were being pushed, Dallas' players were being given a day off.

And as for his play, Rivers made some VERY smart plays in this game, in particular passes that he threw away instead of forcing things. Not picking on Romo, but I think it's something he could learn from Rivers.
