I'm glad to see y'all have finally jumped back on the Norv bandwagon!

I've been saying since Wade was hired that it was a mistake. Jerry should have hired Norv or Singletary.

There is no doubt. I think our offense would be a lot better off though. Our defense would probably be worse.

The end result would be the same.

The players quit on Wade last season. What's your point?

For Norv...sometimes you win when you lose...always thought Norv was a good guy and I like seeing him win...he just tossed the MVP of the league out the door...
Norv is a great offensive mind and I don't think that manning deserved the MVP.

Congrats to Norv.

I'm also rooting for Tomlin and Sparano.

All three are guys we could have had instead of the Marshmellow Man.

Great job Jerry.

They didn't fire him because of his coaching performance. They fired him cuz he couldn't get along with the GM. Not quite the same, IMO.

True.

However, you stated that there is more pressure to win in Dallas than in San Diego and that is just not true. I believe that is more percption than reality.

Marty Schottenheimer didn't get along with management, however, going 14-2 and not winning a Playoff Game in his final season definately made the decision to not retain him as Head Coach eaiser.

Also, in his first year, Norv Turner got the Chargers all the way to the AFCCCG last year and there was a good chance that he may have been fired if the Chargers didn't make the Playoffs this year.

If the above facts isn't indicative of an Organization that demands that you win now, then I don't know what it is.

Norv probably doesnt have any success if he was our coach.

But... I STILL want him to win SB...

Because mediots and fans and such will still go with the partyline "Jerry Jones picked wrong HC and the one he didnt pick won SB"

Jerry needs to hurt... Jerry needs a frickn reality trip. The ride he has been taken us on has gotten old for some time now.

I want a new ride.

yep. i had to go back and edit. i do remember now norv started off last year and we were all happy we got wade.

my main point is the average "fan" is fickle. they see a "win" and some slight connection, it only fuels their own 'rage'.

i don't want norm or wade. but i don't want to keep going with the coach of the month club either.

Who you calling average?;)

Jesus, we don't want Norv... and I don't think I want Tony Dungy either. Challenges an obvious INC, and then doesn't challenge a catch that was clearly out of bounds. And I sure don't want #54 on the Colts, he wasn't even a speedbump. Didn't like going empty backfield on third down late either against my own endzone, that endzone is like an extra defender, gotta have more protection.

3rd and 11 in OT, that's where that game was lost. You have to make that stop in overtime. SD is deep in their territory, you have them bottled, JUST DON'T GIVE UP THE FIRST, and you get the ball at midfield, and with Manning and Vinateri, that is pretty much game over. But no, an underneath pass and crappy Colt tackling (I think #54 was MIA on that coverage on the back, God he was awful all night).

Congrats indeed: I've always liked and respected Norv...maybe if Miami and S.Diego could SOMEHOW meet in the AFC Championship this would be enough to spur JJ into action?

Whats funny is that ALMOST ALL the post on this board were against Norv being named Head Coach.

Go back and look at the posts from back then and they were "Norv is a proven loser", "Norv has never won anything as a head coach", "Jerry is just trying to relive the glory days if he hires Norv".

They wont admit it now, but most posters on this board at the time were against hiring Norv.

Funny how all of a sudden Norv is a genius and a great head coach and everybody is saying Jerry screwed up and hired the wrong guy...........where were these post 2 years ago?????
I wanted Turner and Jordan Palmer as a backup (Ok, so I was wrong about 1 of those).

These players quit on Parcells too. It's not just the coaches...it's the players. If Jerry's gonna remain GM, then he can start by sending a signal and cutting some names soon (Roy Williams (S), Stanback, Hurd, etc). instead of waiting and dillydallying 'til draft time.

Amazing, isn't it...

Norv had the defensive coordinator fired, and they proceeded to win...

Wade took over the defense, but had nobody to fire the OC... the offense collapsed...

See the difference?

If Norv was this team's offensive coordinator, it would be lights out... And wasn't it Norv himself who said Garrett wasn't ready to call plays yet?

Jerry didn't hire Norv, because he thought he had a Norv in Jason Garrett... He was obviously wrong..

BTW, people say that Norv is as soft as Wade is as a coach... people were saying that his team was falling a part, led by the charge of Tomlinson...

Amazing isn't it... a soft coach, with locker room problems, getting his team playing well in December, on into the play-offs...

If anything, Norv is proof for those that want to keep Wade...

Give him a DC, where he can focus on offense, and you got smash-mouth football, coupled in with a QB that keeps getting better, thriving in play-action, the more he is under the tutelage of Norv...

If Wade had a legitimate offense, there would have been no chance of this team collapsing on the last two drives of the Ravens, or the Steelers scoring on defense to threaten the Cowboys, because they would have been up by at least 20, and that lead would have been because of time-consuming drives that just break the will of the defense...

What a load of crap most of this thread is filled with.

All these fans who are bashing Jerry for making the wrong move in hiring Wade over Norv.

I don't remember seeing your smug posts supporting Norv for the job. I'd say 98% of the people on this forum were totally against hiring Norv Turner for anything...they didn't even want him for OC.

Now, suddenly, Dallas should have hired him? Total BS.

That's not my take on any of this thread Wayne. I'm happy for Norv, because he helped us win Super Bowls and I respect him. However, IF he can continue to win and Miami can continue to win...I'm all for anything that makes JJ see that Wade is the wrong man for this job: period. I was never a 'Norv for Head Coach' supporter and I'm still not for that matter....just want to see JJ have a "Come to Jesus" moment: that's all.

When Norv took SD job, I knew a lot of people in SF were afraid that Alex Smith was going to regress without Norv. Alex smith is out of league right now from a promising season two years ago.

Tony Romo would be MVP if Norv were our coach.

The problem/benefit (depending upon which way you look at it) with hindsight is that it's 20/20.

Our team didn't need an offensive minded coach when the Wade/Norv process was in effect, because it was our defense that had all of these first rounders and wasn't performing, while our offense was doing well.

Now, it's the complete opposite, and so people who wanted Norv back then can now say, look what he's doing in San Diego.

I've never really had problems with Norv as a coach. I've always thought he was an outstanding offensive coordinator and QB coach. However, as a head coach, I thought he did a good job at his stops considering the circumstances: in Washington he had them one field goal bobbled snap away from the NFC championship game, but was tossed the next year because Snyder is an idiot; in Oakland, no coach ever succeeds in the modern era. Some things like discipline seemed to be lacking in his teams, but I don't really know how much of that was his fault.
