Heard it and read it multiple times from multiple sources. They all said the same thing. The fact that he isnt a team captain was an indictment of him not being a good locker room guy. Sorry your panties are in a bunch about it. It is what it is and you are entitled to your opinions, just like I am.

Off the field, I've heard things running from Cook being arrogant and a prima donna, to him just being a bit prickly with the media. Depending on the scout, Cook's intangibles (leadership, attitude, work ethic) will be a very big part of his grade. The fact that this three-year starter at quarterback wasn't voted a team captain by teammates is something he'll have to answer for, even if it seems like a subplot from the movie Draft Day.

While some observers won't take umbrage with Cook's blatant disrespect of a Big Ten legend, the fact is that it plays into the narrative that he has an arrogant personality and suspect leadership skills. Given the significance NFL coaches and scouts place on intangibles in the evaluation of franchise quarterbacks, Cook's off-field actions could severely ding his draft stock.

An NFC regional scout said Michigan State senior QB Connor Cook is a third-round prospect.
"The most polarizing guy in the draft is going to be Connor Cook," he said. "Watch. Scouts argue about him all the time. We've seen him long enough that everyone's mind is made up already. He's a third-rounder to me and an average starter at best." Similar to Brady Quinn several years ago, Cook is a long-time starter who folks still can't quite get their finger on despite ample tape to watch. "Cook has been a productive starter who has shown improvement each year, but there are still questions about his accuracy on the NFL level and whether or not he can be a team leader in the locker room and on the field," noted NFL.com. "While Cook might be polarizing, he's also a quality quarterback, and quality quarterbacks rarely fall very far outside of the second round.

Here’s what he said:

“On the field – helped. Off the field, there are some real questions. It’s amazing. Everyone I talk to – the fact that he was not a captain, the way he carries himself, (there’s) a little bit of a Jay Cutler, turns people off,” McShay said.

“NFL teams are saying this to you?” Russillo asked.

“Oh, yeah,” McShay said.

“Wow,” Russillo said.

“It started from all the NFL scouts, teams doing due diligence on him. So that’s really going to be the big thing. Now, he doesn’t have the strongest arm in the world, and there are some minor things in his game that aren’t great, but I really believe he would be a first-round pick if he was clean or perfect in terms of the intangibles and the personality that you’re bringing in,” McShay said.

“He didn’t help himself at all at the (Big Ten Championship Game) ceremony,” Kanell said.

“No (he didn’t),” McShay said.

Has never had a 60 percent completion rate while playing on a top college team.

No thanks.
