Connor Williams

Jesus we need to start reading the whole reply timeline before we reply to someone. In my original post I said I had to look deeper into his week 2 performance. Regardless of if it was terrible or not that bad, lumping in a week one game where he had only 1 pressure in 33 snaps is ridiculous. All we've heard from camp is he has great feet and athleticism as well as good technique, needs time to bulk up. The week one game was a direct representation of what we already knew.

Again maybe he got crushed week 2, but even if he did I don't think one preseason game is enough to declare someone unfit of being a starter. Let's give him time.
Oh he’s unfit to be a starter. Unless there’s a conspiracy to get Dak crushed. Williams ain’t ready yet. Not saying he’s a bust and never will be. But he looks like a boy amongst men out there.

Eh... you may be right. I remember Stepnoski being outweighed and outmuscled by many a DT, but he had sound, sound technique and he was a darn good center.
Conner needs reps to get to that point and the pre-season is the place to do it. He needs to go against the Atkins of this league, to learn.
Maybe he learns enough to not be a liability, during the season, but I would definitely be ready to pull the cord if he's getting blown up during the RS.

Again I have to look deeper into week 2 but as of week 1, he is confirmed to have given up 1 pressure (the sack) in 33 snaps. That's just a fact I don't have any biases towards Connor, I just know that 1 pressure in 33 snaps sounds pretty solid. But hey I guess we're looking for him to have a perfect game.

I said what were you watching? Not what we’re you told. He’s getting smashed out there. Let’s just be honest

He's having rookie struggles and showing his weakness which is strength...they will have to work with him to adjust and he needs to keep lifting and eating...as long as he plays with good technique they should be able to compensate as he improves....

He's probably going to take a solid year to get to a point where he isn't just flat out muscled most plays he loses

I didn’t know this thread owed you a breakdown of each play...
Btw this thread was started before the thread breaking down each play. That one just further proved what posters said in this thread.

He went up a good DT and played poorly.

Hey Mods....the cowboyszone narcissist says this thread needs to be closed down...
He didn't play poorly...at all. He got pushed on the 2nd play of the game, got beat on a couple of tough scoop blocks where the defender was to his right and the run went right, also rode Atkins around the qb on another play.

He played great in the run game and was amazing on the edge...please explain how this is "poor".

Connor Williams sucks right now and should not be in our starting lineup. He’s a liability out there and it’s apparent. It truly amazes me how fans here are quick to give him excuses and leeway when the film clearly shows he’s not sufficiently doing his job right now. But for many other players they’re quick to berate them and claim they are worthless. Why is Connor different? Don’t bother answering. I already know... This **** is sad.
I feel your frustration, but the organization went all in on him being the guard. Right now there isn't an answer who to replace him with, in time I believe he will get better with experience.

Strength won’t be developed with reps. He’s just not ready yet. Face it. He’s getting his *** kicked.
Just as many have said about Dak, Jaylon, Rico, etc. Williams is not privileged or exempt from this issue. He needs to develop more before becoming a starter. Straight up.

Poor is getting your behind handed to you and being mauled and man handled like a child. I don’t wanna hear **** about his technique and all that bs. That technique Talk is for those who lack athleticism. He’s not big or strong enough to handle the big DTs in the NFL. Accept it as fact. Cameras don’t lie. Men do.

Why do I get the feeling we're going to see a Chaz Green day from our rook and Jason won't do anything, but be paralyzed and helpless at this conflagration?
Gawd... I hope that gets him fired.
I hope not. But I’m afraid you’re right

IM not saying anything that you cant see. Is he giving up ground? Yes, he his guy running loose? No? Does he need to improve, of course he's a rookie. Is he holding his own, you damn right he is.

I just dont think he's struggling. He's playing his game and he's learning the strength in the NFL is totally different from the college game. You know who else this happened to? Tyron Smith, and he came back and turned himself into a all pro. Connor Williams has the makeup of a player and person that doesnt need to be questioned. He's willing to put in the work to get stronger and knows his body. Some people just need misery. IM a fan who loves whats happening in Dallas and getting young. IM going to watch a Cowboys game and enjoy it. Some people are not capable of this.

So if these things are so obvious, why are you getting bent out of shape when folks are identifying it?

I think most reasonable folks realize he's a rookie and that there will be growing pains. What's unreasonable is to gloss over his mistakes/deficiencies and act like he's been doing stellar.

He did best when on the move. When squared up against Atkins, Billings and even Glasgow, not so much. He is going to have functional strength issues for this year at least. That is just the reality of it. He's not like Martin (not many are) where he can step right in at guard and not skip a beat against power rushes.

He'll get bigger and stronger after a full offseason next year. There is nothing wrong with simply admitting where he is at right now.

Check the thread where each play is broken down.
If you get beat and your guy is in your backfield 8 times out of 33 snaps then you played poorly.
Check PFF and see how they also said he played poor both games. If your getting beat by your man this badly every 4th snap then it’s a problem. It’s not just about not clearing your lane or hole. I’m talking about your man in our backfield quickly.

Time to what? Put on 30 pounds and increase his strength 20%?

Good tackles are throwing him around like a high school kid.

Yea. Why can’t they admit that? I know we all watched THE SAME GAMES!!!
