I hate saying this but Connor Williams gets beat on so many plays. Last week was bad and people just assumed it was jitters....then tonight he was beaten by his man on way too many plays in the passing and running game.

I think it’s becoming a concern.
We all know he looks small for a guard. I’m not sure if he is playing out of position or if maybe he just isn’t very good at this point and may be a liability this season.

We may have assumed since we hit on so many OL in recent years that we would hit on this one as well.

he's been disappointing but he got ****** coaching and conditioning at texas. i think it will take some time for him to get acclimated.

I will wait to see what some of the guys like Sturm and others that re-watch the game say but my initial impression was he was, at best, OK. I can't kill him for getting slapped around by Geno Atkins because most OGs do. He seemed to get a bit better as the game wore on but you wonder if that was because the level of talent lining up opposite him was going down.

I noticed a couple of times, on pulls, he was slow to get off the snap and let his guy get inside him and blow up a run.

Maybe we are a little spoiled and expect all our olinemen to come pro ready. Hopefully he gets better as the year goes on.

Pretty much it looks like they are just plugging this kid into the starting line up. Dont see anything else in preseason. It gonna be a problem.

I’m surprised also. I’ve watched him in 2 games now and he gets pushed around, blown past, at one point he ended up tackling Rod Smith. Dak was running around due to him letting the DL men beat him so throughly.

Teams will start sending a bunch of stunts and pressure his way when they realize it.

At this point he doesn’t look like an NFL lineman.

Please NO. Chaz is apparently done. But for some illegal reason we will keep him. I am really shocked that they are actually expecting him to walk in and do this. Was a bad choice. And it will bite us several times. If you watch he gives a few up and steadies but is still losing ground. Lol. He is a rook. This isn’t the year to do this. Isn’t Bell still around? Conner isn’t going to get much stronger in the next month.

Imo it's going to be a season long problem, he just isn't strong enough to hold up against good DTs.

check teams with elite defensive tackles
you will see both of those teams they played have guys high on that list (Deforest Buckner, Geno Atkins)
the worst part is, there are 3 more in the nfce

he is light for guard
that's all there is to it. it's not defending him it is what it is
he needs time in a nfl weight room
he has very good feet, good size decent technique but when you are facing those dudes you need power too

The problem is the ratio to wins and losses is ugly at this point...losing 1 equals a drive killing sack or tackle for a loss.

I’m nervous over this guy.

Ive seen terrible OT play. But I don’t know if I’ve seen a OG look this bad.

All we can do at this point is hope for the best I guess.

no...he wont get stronger but I think his technique will.
Paul Alexander is the key to this.
I think Williams was a good choice and we'll see it.

He is taking on the biggest DTs. And he is light and not strong enough yet. I haven’t seen any other line up in the starters. They are leaving him in there. And he is playing more than the other starters to give him reps. This is only experience. I get it, but the kid needs time, weight, muscle,power. Not going to happen in the next month.
