Connor Williams

The problem is the ratio to wins and losses is ugly at this point...losing 1 equals a drive killing sack or tackle for a loss.

I’m nervous over this guy.

Ive seen terrible OT play. But I don’t know if I’ve seen a OG look this bad.

All we can do at this point is hope for the best I guess.
I just think things will look different when #21 is back there.
Connor was always gonna struggle as a rook...but I like how he responds.
he'll get there.

no...he wont get stronger but I think his technique will.
Paul Alexander is the key to this.
I think Williams was a good choice and we'll see it.
No no. Great pick. But not to plug and play. Not with this O-Line. It’s looking like a slightly better option then Chaz at this point. Gonna cause a problem. To me Dak looks a little uneasy by it to. He goes against our D with this O-Line all the time. He is feeling it. And it’s showing in preseason.

The good aspect of this is that Connor Williams won't be facing anyone in the category of Geno Atkins every week, so there's that to consider. He'll more than likely take his lumps like most rookies do. He needs to gain additional strength before he's fully ready to take on the league's best defenders. It'll surely be a process that takes time to improve upon. In the meantime, there'll simply be instances when he has those rookie miscues to overcome.

Ya think? I am surprised. Watching the game now. Apparently we end up losing. What ever, it’s preseason. But very surprised they are just gonna plug this kid in to this starting line up. He is light and not ready. It’s gonna cause problems in the real games.

Well they've got Looney available if they need him till Williams catches up.

Really? Go back and watch Jonathan Cooper playing last year.

he's been disappointing but he got ****ty coaching and conditioning at texas. i think it will take some time for him to get acclimated.
Paul Alexander is a damn fine coach . this narrative is so lame. Zordon your a good poster but come on.
Anderson is a notable teacher

what concerns me more is the depth behind our 1st 5....except for Joe Looney.
I thought Cam Fleming was a good f/a sign...Im not impressed at all...he played better in NE than this.
I like Kadeem Edwards but I dont trust him as a starter.

I hate saying this but Connor Williams gets beat on so many plays. Last week was bad and people just assumed it was jitters....then tonight he was beaten by his man on way too many plays in the passing and running game.

I think it’s becoming a concern.
We all know he looks small for a guard. I’m not sure if he is playing out of position or if maybe he just isn’t very good at this point and may be a liability this season.

We may have assumed since we hit on so many OL in recent years that we would hit on this one as well.

Thoughts?
He's been a Cowboy for less than 4 months. 4.

His play wasn't bad last week at all. One bad play the rest for fairly solid.

It's not becoming an concern it's just you.

FWIT he was playing against a very good player tonight.

It hurts but Cooper couldn’t get out of his own way but he at least held his guy from running through him like a turnstile. At this point Cooper > Williams.

It could change but this guy hasn’t shown to be anything but a liability.

Anyone who recorded the game should go back and watch this first quarter again and just watch Connor. It’s scary bad.

That’s a serious exaggeration!

I was going to start a thread suggesting we move him outside to RT, at least until he can bulk up a bit. Just checked his bio to be sure, and sure enough, this kid has NEVER played guard on any level. Ask him to come into the NFL and not only play a position he's never played but play it at high level. Think we're asking this kid for too much. OL interior you need and strength. Pretty obvious his power and strength is nowhere near where it needs to be at this time. Why not kick him outside and by default bring Collins back inside. At least out there he 1) be more at home and 2) can use his technical skills more to advantage.

I thought he played pretty well for his second start at guard. I saw him get beat by a big heavy one time. Williams seems pretty athletic and can move pretty well for a big guy. He needs more strength and some more weight and that will come with time.

He's probably the best we have at that position right now. And a lot of teams would probably like to have him based on some of the OL play I have seen from other teams in preseason.

I think he is going to be a solid OL. It may take some time. Maybe a few games, maybe a year.

Too early to freak out. He's beside two of the best linemen in the game, tyron and freddy. He'll be fine. I would worry about the other G on the team if I were you

Oh I see. Let’s tell the rest of the league that they can’t play good players against him because he’s only been a Cowboy for 4 months.

What a meaningless comment. If he isn’t good enough then we shouldn’t be starting him. And if so our front office messed up by assuming he was plug and play.

And his play last week was bad also.

in my opinion the most important thing is for him to not lose his confidence.
he's gonna win some....he's gonna lose some.
just trust your technique.
I like how after a bad play...or series....he comes right back.
he'll get there.

I remember when you guys thought Tyron Smith should have been moved back to RT early in his career

We can't take you guys seriously around here

Maybe I watched a different game than the rest of you but I thought he looked really good at times. Now, I need to go back and focus on him every play but i generally focused on him and was impressed.

this sums up my experience watching most games here
first, watching poor play
giphy.gif

then the nut kicking of the we suck threads
that pop up everywhere
like we don't know that some of these guys are bad or that yeah, that play was terrible
