Connor Williams

I hate saying this but Connor Williams gets beat on so many plays. Last week was bad and people just assumed it was jitters....then tonight he was beaten by his man on way too many plays in the passing and running game.

I think it’s becoming a concern.
We all know he looks small for a guard. I’m not sure if he is playing out of position or if maybe he just isn’t very good at this point and may be a liability this season.

We may have assumed since we hit on so many OL in recent years that we would hit on this one as well.

Thoughts?
So many? As in how many?

The good aspect of this is that Connor Williams won't be facing anyone in the category of Geno Atkins every week, so there's that to consider. He'll more than likely take his lumps like most rookies do. He needs to gain additional strength before he's fully ready to take on the league's best defenders. It'll surely be a process that takes time to improve upon. In the meantime, there'll simply be instances when he has those rookie miscues to overcome.
I'm with you Bullflop, I do think he needs to get a little stronger to go along with some improvements on technique.
They say he checks in at 6'5" and about 296 so he's not a little guy by any means, but if he puts on about 10 or 15 lbs and increases his strength, he should be a beast.
But I've got a feeling it's going to take a little while to make that happen.

I think Williams will eventually be just fine. Sure he’s a bit raw,and has things to learn and work on,but will be a solid addition on the line the more time he gets under his belt. It’s the Chaz Green type band-aid picks I take issue with when addressing the O-line needs, and he’s anything but that.

I dont think he has shown any examples of being a miss. He is not Zach,Fred,TSmith but thats high cotton.
We do watch a little anxiously for sign of faltering I get that.
He'll e fine.

Sturm wrote at length on The Athletic that Williams has the tools, but will need to learn the position and how to keep leverage, and gain strength. He states this is a work in progress and the Dallas fans should not get their panties in a twist if he doesn't roll out of the draft as a Pro Bowl player.

Excellent advice I think.

He's a rookie playing in his second game. Dude Larry Allen wasn't great from day 1. Give it more time.

It was reported that he came to camp at 305.

Well, I would rather run over to the cemetery and dig up someone then have Chaz Green playing, a corpse is better then him... no one is that bad. Williams would have to stay on the sidelines to be as ineffective as that dude.

what concerns me more is the depth behind our 1st 5....except for Joe Looney.
I thought Cam Fleming was a good f/a sign...Im not impressed at all...he played better in NE than this.
I like Kadeem Edwards but I dont trust him as a starter.

I thought flemming would be better to. Iguess I see why he was in the bottom of the list of starting tackles.

Everyone says he needs a year to gain mass and muscle, why the F didn't we draft someone that already has those traits? Once I saw the Hyundai I knew we were in for trouble, an OL gives his father a Ford F-150 not a Hyundai!

Because those are the guys you find 40-50 picks earlier than we were picking.

Dare we move Collins back inside and let Williams handle the RT spot? I will admit he's going overpowered at LG and it scares me somewhat.
