People are making a mistake and assuming a certain trade value exist for Romo.
They act like we are hurting ourselves if we don't trade him to the Browns for a 1st.
Ask yourself this....as good as Romo is when healthy how would you feel about him making it through a season today? Forgetting his huge contract...would you give up much for a QB that was physically broken the last few times we played?
And I'm a huge Romo fan. Huge.
Jerry said a lot in the interview. Guess its up to the listener to decide whats real.
He actually did specifically mention a release, but with the gentlemans understanding that Romo would not play for rival.
He also said Romo has as much control control over this as he does--i assume meaning he has input (to some reasonable degree and not all or nothing, plus he can just retire and up his odds of not being in a wheelchair at 50).
Have to assume the goal is to get as much for Romo as you can (above and beyond the cap savings) if that is possible, but to a team thay he would actually play for vs retiring.
The 3-way horse crud trade with the Skins got shot down totally...and by default, so did any trade to a cruddy team like Cleveland.
No surprise there
