He’s as good as gone. Hopefully Tolbert continues to develop. He has taken some big steps forward.$9,500,000 cap saving for a post 6/1 cut

How so?Gallup is such a massive disappointment.
Where did this come from? Have you ever seen any games he played in before he got hurt? The only reason gallup sees the field is because of his salary! No other explanation
That’s my point though. His contract had something to do with it. The vax story just sounds good. The other story is he called Dak the “black Kirk Cousins” and it got him cut. Maybe all is this happened but at the end of the day his salary cap was the main culprit. And it’s also why no one offered more than a 5th for him. Some players are more important that others.
We had Lamb up and coming and that made Cooper more expendable.
He also had a large contract.
coincedentally, his departure came within the same week as it was announced that Dak would be given more input on personnel. That’s my point though. His contract had something to do with it. I think if Dak had his way Kellen and Amari would still be here.coincedentally, his departure came within the same week as it was announced that Dak would be given more input on personnel.
If Dak doesn't look at him, he isn't going to get the ball! After the 1st Philly game when so much was made of B. Cooks being open on several plays and especially on the last play that could have won us the game, Dak has been far more cognizant of looking towards Cooks! Part of the problem is that Dak isn't a quick reader of defenses, he also takes a little longer than some to get rid of the ball and by the time he gets to his 3rd option, it's too late. I would like to see them mix in some plays early on in the game designed as Gallup being the #1 read. It would then help open things up even more for Cooks and CD!It sure looks like Cooks has taken over the #2 WR spot. Gallup is rarely used at all, they go to the TEs more. Is Gallup 100% and is Cooks just the better all around WR. Gallup got that huge contract and was great as a down the field threat, it would be nice to work him into the gameplan more.
I'm not sure what you mean by taking over he literally when he was brought in cooks was the number two from the beginning Michael Gallup showed too much inconsistencies last year and it was obvious we needed a better wide receiver at #2 and they brought over cooks but it looks like they're using a running back bike committee situation for the wide receivers at three through six they just rotating people in and out... I mean with the targets we now have with clearly one of the best number ones this Cowboys team has ever seen for all those haters who said he wasn't a number one and with cooks and Ferguson and Turpin and Pollard... We don't need to worry about where are the little bread crumbs go to the rest of the guys we have a pretty good rotation and I believe my pick carthy has a pretty good feel for who to target...It sure looks like Cooks has taken over the #2 WR spot. Gallup is rarely used at all, they go to the TEs more. Is Gallup 100% and is Cooks just the better all around WR. Gallup really wasn't part of that equation I know everyone keeps thinking it was amari for Gallup that's not how it really was in my opinion yes we were hoping that Gallup came back from his injury and took that number two spot but amari Cooper is gone because of his $22 million was too much to pay the number two wide receiver here CD Lam is the reason amari Cooper is no longer here there wasn't a good reason with a salary cap to keep Cooper here at that kind of money that is obvious... So yes Gallup has been a disappointment but we did not keep amari Cooper because of his money his cap hit do you realize that right now I bet if you put all our wide receivers together they might equal 25 million against the cap this year our entire wide receiver room..Gallup is such a massive disappointment. I supported keeping him over Amari and it just looks colossally dumb now.
He sees the field because he is part of the game plan and is still a decent player. The only reason gallup sees the field is because of his salary! No other explanation
Tolbert is our 3 best WR. Gallup is a specialty player for us.Actually Jalen Tolbert is cutting into Gallup's snaps. Cooks is playing the same role he has all season, it's just that the Cowboys are getting him more involved.
How so?
That happens pretty frequently, our second string guys go on to be starters. Brown wasn't even given a chance in Dallas. Brown had a few big games for the Texans but then hurt his knee. They should have kept Noah Brown. At least he can block in the running game and he has had some big games for the Texans.
Yea, but there are still handing him $13M upon exit. Terrible way to run a business.$9,500,000 cap saving for a post 6/1 cut
We need someone who can do work down the sidelines for jump balls.Gallup is such a massive disappointment. I supported keeping him over Amari and it just looks colossally dumb now.
Well first of all Amari was not cut either, he was traded.. Secondly, the amount of crap a team will tolerate from you is directly proportional to your production on the field and your importance to the team. Cooper was still pretty productive but no longer 20 million a year productive. Especially with missing two games with Covid and then playing in a weakened state for two more because of it. He essentially stole Jerry's money for 4 games that year. I think that as much as anything was why he was sent away. That 2021 team was pretty good until that midseason swoon knocked them off course. I think being without Cooper AND Lamb for those couple of games there had a lot to do with it. They never fully recovered from that. Coop was the third leading receiver behind Lamb and Schultz that year. You don't pay a guy 20 million a year to be the third option. When people bring this up I always combat it with if Dak and Lamb or Micah didn’t get the vax would they have been cut? Hell no. That’s why I can’t buy that story. It’s like when people said we cut Poe because of him kneeling. It’s just not a convenient story.
From the looks of things Tolbert is showing he can be that guy. I think he goes into training camp next season firmly etched in for that role.We need someone who can do work down the sidelines for jump balls.
If we could bring in Mike Evans next year that would be incredible for this offense.
It was announced that the Cowboys were going to cut Coop then the Browns came up and offered a 5th rounder. They planned on cutting Amari for cap savings.Well first of all Amari was not cut either, he was traded..
