Cooks and Gallup

They should have kept Noah Brown. At least he can block in the running game and he has had some big games for the Texans.
They should have let Gallup and Cooper walk and kept Noah with Cooks. With Tolbert and Ferguson emerging I don't think we would have been any worse...

...but these are 20/20 eyes working here right now. At the end of last season I think most would have been up in arms with the losses of Cooper, Schultz, Moore, letting Gallup go and riding with Noah, Tolbert and Ferguson.

It's hard to have confidence in a bunch of unprovens.

No one could predict the type of season that CeeDee was going to have. No one would have predicted the type of season Ferguson was going to have. Who would have predicted a 6 year vet, two seasons removed from injury, would perform as poorly as Gallup? (34 receptions and 418 yards)

WR is a position where youth now helps with the wide openess of the new NFL. WRs are protected, and you don't need veteran savy to play the position like 5-7 years ago.

It sure looks like Cooks has taken over the #2 WR spot. Gallup is rarely used at all, they go to the TEs more. Is Gallup 100% and is Cooks just the better all around WR. Gallup got that huge contract and was great as a down the field threat, it would be nice to work him into the gameplan more.
Hey, I'm glad to see you are out of your coma. In other developments, Tyler Smith is playing OG not OT and we cut Zeke

Gallup is fine if he wants to significantly cut his pay.
NO HE IS NOT....he shouldn't even be on the roster....period!!! Us being short at WR is what will cost us the NFCCG....we will look horrendous once again on offense as CeeDee will be the ONLY option with nobody else getting any separation. And you can put this in 3 inch high bold letters.

I never supported keeping him over a healthy Wilson!
I preached that here and got torched....everyone said that Ced wasn't worth the money. Gallup isn't worth the league minimum.

It was announced that the Cowboys were going to cut Coop then the Browns came up and offered a 5th rounder. They planned on cutting Amari for cap savings.
By who? If that was the case why wouldn't the Browns just wait for him to but cut and get him for nothing? It was offseason and Coop was a vested veteran who did not have to clear waivers so he would have been a true free agent. The whole "they were gonna cut him" thing sounds like click bait to me. Not that I have any inside knowledge or anything but we all know teams generally don't jump in and offer up draft capital for players they know are going to be cut anyway. Maybe this was an exception but I don't think it's common.

I can’t explain why the ‍♂Browns do what they do.

That’s my point though. His contract had something to do with it. The vax story just sounds good. The other story is he called Dak the “black Kirk Cousins” and it got him cut. Maybe all is this happened but at the end of the day his salary cap was the main culprit. And it’s also why no one offered more than a 5th for him.
Maybe someday we will get the real story.
Speculation is all we got at this point.

Gallup is such a massive disappointment. I supported keeping him over Amari and it just looks colossally dumb now.
Of course it wasn't an apples to apples choice. Gallup got a big contract, but nothing compared to Amari's contract. That was a definite factor in the choice the Cowboys made

The vacuous trade of Cooper and the disappointing rebound of Gallup is something this team is still paying for two years later. This highlights how far-reaching bad decisions can be. I'm hoping that T. Steele doesn't have a similar disappointing rebound. We should know by this time next year.

Noah always seemed like a wasted roster spot. But then he had some nice games and over 200 rec yds last year in the 5 games Cooper Rush started, which was more than he had in any previous season.

As backups, Rush had developed a good chemistry with Noah. But it was obvious Dak wasn’t going to look for him so he never got a real chance.

Cooper being released was about him refusing to get the vax and missing games because of the virus.
That's speculation on my part.
But , I think I read somewhere Jerry was upset about the above.
Sure his contract played a part in the decision as well.
I think Jerry would have overlooked the covid issue if Coop had put up No. 1 numbers, but he was getting paid like a No. 1 and not playing like one. Dallas had a decision to make whether to pay Gallup to be the No. 2 to Lamb's No. 1 or continue paying Cooper No. 1 money. They gambled on Gallup and lost.

The year before the offfense was better with Cedric than it was before Gallup got injured. It was really a no-brainer that Jerry messed up with emotions helping out a player who was injured

Not for the price he wanted. 33-567-2 in 10 games isn't worth it at all.

73 catches for 842 yards in 29 games since he signed his $13 million per season contract.
You said he was a massive disappointment. I asked how so. You gave me his stats. We all know his stats. I asked for an explaination. I'm sorry he blew out his knee. We all are. That really set him back last year when he shouldn't have even been dressing for games. That isn't his fault. This year he isn't getting targets. In each of the last two games he was literally standing in the middle of the field all alone and Dak didn't throw him the ball. Again, that isn't his fault.
