Yes, for this season. With no running game, no Oline, only 1 legit WR and no Defense. That would affect any QB, including Mahomes.
Oh, well then, how many seasons are we counting?
All of them, I guess. Not sure what good the past does for the future in this instance. He wasn't very mobile this year. Next year he'll be a statue in the pocket.

The defense looked pretty decent on Sunday. The offensive line graded out better than they have all year. Even the backup TE played well in place of the starter who's typically the second option in the passing game. The QB didn't turn the ball over and put up numbers that look very Mahomes-like... since we're only talking about this year.

Tolbert had a game in the 80 yard range against NO when the game was out of hand quickly and another 80 plus game against Pittsburgh with a very nice TD catch maybe his best game with Dak slinging it . Either Dak or Rush this third rounder has to develop into a reliable outlet when 88 is blanketed .

He’s on pace for a 60 reception season and you hate to see him getting better than sign elsewhere . Next year he’s playing for a 2nd contract hopefully Rush develops more targets to him spread out the offense .

I'm not talking years ago, I'm talking the current team. Dak's team in 2016 was friggen loaded, with the NFL's rushing leader, kick butt oline, good receivers, he had it all, that is why he achieved what he did, then as the years wore on, he became injured and broken, physically and mentally.
Ok? And Rush won games with a pretty solid squad as well.

Might be the most undeserving player in the NFL.

He does nothing outstanding he can’t move. He has no arm strength. He throws pop flies. He has no emotion. The fans are not clamoring for him like most fan base is clamor for a back up quarterback.

The fan base wants to see the third string quarterback, not him playing/ he does nothing to help the organization moving forward.

There’s really no upside to him even being on the roster he’s completely overpaid.

He was awful in that game yesterday fumbling snaps, terrible decisions weak throws behind the receiver, missing wide open targets.

Not playing Trey Lance a guy that you gave up a fourth round pick for and just riding with a clipboard is beyond asinine. This is the time to see if this guy can actually be a serviceable roster player.

Rush is a guy that was released and played for the Giants and somehow found his way back to Dallas.

Again, he adds nothing to the football team.

If he throws five touchdowns on Thursday, it still means nothing he is neither of the present or the future.
He’s the ultimate backup QB.

the new HC has some decisions to make in Jan.

Kellen Moore will want Lance.

Sorry but he was winning before the Turpin TD and the onside TD. It was the D that folded like a cheap suit on the last couple drives!
the D played out of their minds for 3 quarters, then went back to normal...which is the way they had been playing all year. why are you acting surprise when the defense gave up drives and TDs and not surprised when they held a team to 3 points at half.

Where was this reported? I am willing to bet Rush understands this offense better than Dak and I am willing to bet he isn't confused by the post snap read like Dak (self admitted). Did they have to scale it back because of his limited arm? I'd say there is a good chance they're not running deeper routes, but it's not "dumbed down".
By dumbed down I mean reducing the number of long throws, running the ball more, more passes to backs, etc.

Besides,do you really think the Cowboys will say they dumbed it down? Lol. And the talking heads in the media do not have access to Dallas' thoughts on the game plans.

I stand by my opinion...

Cooper Rush is a backup QB, he doesn't need to have a redeeming quality other than be prepared to step in and play.

If backup QBs had one or more "redeeming" traits, they'd be starters.

Well it seems he can motivate his teammates.

Since he started the defense is playing better and better. Maybe they feel it makes sense again to give it all. With the other bum at qb you could sense the whole team lost their believe.

And he seems to be a real leader. Does not talk a lot. Leads by example. Has a natural autority that surrounds him.

Not like the other bum. Who talks a lot and cant be taken serious.
Wow after 9 Seasons.......why don't they feel like this in ANY training camp :lmao:

Generally speaking? Dak is more aggressive in the passing game than Rush.
Ya, those 1-3 yard pass dinkers and dunkers esp when it's 3rd and 8 are very aggressive!!!! :muttley:
If Daks first read is covered watch out here comes trouble!!!

Dak does take risks where as Rush is either going to complete the pass or it goes untouched
or hits the ground orgets fumbled or hits the defender in the hand (ask Khiladi for the stats of almost interceptions) but there were at least 6 passes that could have been intercepted against Philly and about 5 against Texans.

Rush has one redeeming quality that has some fans enamored with him and that’s his contract. Losing with a cheap QB doesn’t bother fans remotely as much as losing with a $60 million QB.

I agree with the last sentence of the OP. But he is the perfect backup. Knows the offense, can win games, demands nothing and is a team player. It's not his fault our QB1 has no consistency and the QB3 experiment failed. He just plays when being asked, keeps his mouth shut and the team seems to be willing to play for him.

What more of your backup QB could you want. That is a huge upside (at minimum the one you need) and his salary is fine. I don't care if they let him go or not, but as long as he was here he has done the job that was expected from him. Period. 6-3. End of story.
He does fit that niche well, if he was better he'd be starting for some crappy team out there. The only thing I don't like is carrying three QBs so that you have a developmental guy.

Well, he wins more than loses. So far.
