Those “we HAVE to pay Dak” fans are getting quieter and quieter

*insert homer backing into the bushes gif*
They’re backed into a corner. We paid 60 million for Dak to injury his hammy and to 3-5 before it. We are paying 2 million for Rush to not injure his hammy and go 2-2 so far with a legitimate chance at 3-2.

Yes, just like Dak will remain your QB the next 4 years. Are you going to be ok?
Will you be? You've done some flip-flopping on him, so I wonder if you will still defend him if he comes back and stinks up the place like he did this season. And before you call me a liar or blame everyone else on the team for his failures, even Jerry agrees he sucked before his injury.

There’s a legitimate chance he could go 9-3 too.
So again there should be some QB hungry team offering Cooper Rush a job to be their starter next season. Unless you're saying that Jerry is going to commit to Rush being the starter for the foreseeable future and won't even believe he needs to draft Dak's replacement because of the "Rush record now is" narrative.

Rush's agent should be talking to him about exploring the market if he isn't going to be the starter is Dallas. And actually see how many teams out there are as impressed by Cooper Rush as some fans on this forum is. If there are impressed GMs then the Cowboys could shop Rush around.

A large portion of Dak's contract is guaranteed, right? Plus, he has the no-trade clause, so I guess we do "have to pay" him.

Do you honestly believe Dak wouldn’t have won the two games Rush did?

This year, you’re right. Dak wasn’t playing any better than Rush is now, but we have a career body of work that says Dak is the superior quarterback. Now, is he worth $60 million a year? Probably not. But he’s better than Rush.

For context:

He went 1-0 a few seasons ago.
He went 4-1 a couple seasons ago.

He now has gone 2-2 in a season that Dak went 3-5. There’s no reason to keep paying Dak every season if Cooper Rush can win games. Why are we paying one player 60 million when the other is serviceable enough to win games when Dak is injured? I don’t get it!
Best win % for Cowboys starting QBs (10+ starts):

Roger Staubach .746
Cooper Rush .700
Craig Morton .696
Danny White .674
Dak Prescott .623

Let me ask you this. Is Dak worth 58 million more than Rush?

You will see Rush on a roster next season, and we will get a comp pick if it's not with Dallas.

His “career body of work” is irrelevant right now. You dont pay someone for what they did. You pay someone for what you think he will be capable of during the new deal.

Thats the whole point as to why it was a horrific signing.

1. Hes never shown he can play like the highest paid player in the league against the best teams

2. You said it. He isnt playing any better than a backup QB with a weak arm
