His “career body of work” is irrelevant right now. You dont pay someone for what they did. You pay someone for what you think he will be capable of during the new deal.

Thats the whole point as to why it was a horrific signing.

1. Hes never shown he can play like the highest paid player in the league against the best teams

2. You said it. He isnt playing any better than a backup QB with a weak arm
They expect a young and spry Dak next seasons. ;) He'll find the fountain of youth!

Let me ask you this. Is Dak worth 58 million more than Rush?
Would any NFL GM agree with fans on this forum and decide to take Cooper Rush over Dak? Just based off of the "Rush is 7-3" narrative and based off of Dak being more expensive? Dak hasn't played well this season. Yet this Cowboys team even got a win over this same Giants team earlier this season. Yet somehow Rush deserves praise for beating this same Giants team would the Cowboys already had beaten with Dak as the QB.

Dak has not earned his contract this season. But the question will still remain is would any team still refer to go with Cooper Rush just because he is cheaper. And would any GM offer Rush a deal based off of what he has done as a back up in Dallas. Daniel Jones got signed to the Vikings after a bad season. So if Rush doesn't get an offer from another team, with a better roster than the Cowboys currently have. Then they aren't seeing the things in Rush so many on this forum sees.

I guarantee you that every single GM in the NFL other than Jerry Jones would rather take Cooper Rush than Dak Prescott for no other reason than the contract situation. You cannot win a SB with a mid QB soaking up all of the cap.

They would take Rush as a stop gap until they could find a suitable starter. They wouldn't even bother with Dak because of the dollars commitment, never mind that he is washed up and his body is breaking down.

Flawed logic

An NFL GM decided to let Saquon Barkley leave because they gave Daniel Jones large money. 7 months later, they both are off the team

To answer your question, no GM would take Rush over Dak simply because Dak provides a higher ceiling. The problem is, he plays at the same floor as Rush way too often to justify his contract

Absolutely. 31 out of 31 GMs would take Rush and his contract over Prescott and his.

That being said, both these guys suck and Lance completes the suckage trifecta.

Guarantee. So once again if Cooper Rush decided on his own to hit free agency when his contract is up. Then we should see offers pouring in from teams in need of a QB. Yet are unable to draft one. Either that or teams should be calling up Jerry Jones offering him some draft compensation for Cooper Rush. If Rush is some a high quality QB at a cheap price, we should see him soon start for another team.

If Rush can get us to the playoffs, then I'll be a believer.
Right now, he's only beaten the Commodes and the G-aints - teams we generally beat because they're division rivals.
We'll see what he can do down the stretch.

For context:

He went 1-0 a few seasons ago.
He went 4-1 a couple seasons ago.

He now has gone 2-2 in a season that Dak went 3-5. There’s no reason to keep paying Dak every season if Cooper Rush can win games. Why are we paying one player 60 million when the other is serviceable enough to win games when Dak is injured? I don’t get it!
I don't get it as well.......starting this campaign again. That was the Giants.....I know we're not world beaters but c'mon.

Barkley quickly got signed to a team because of another NFL GM seeing his value and how impactful he could be in a positive way. Which has proven to be correct so far. So Jerry let Rush go and some other NFL GM saw value in Rush, then that NFL GM should eventually decided to give Rush a chance to be the starting QB for his team. Even if some NFL GM made the wrong choice in releasing a player. That player will always get picked up by another team who sees the quality in him.

Rush is 2-2 through 4 starts this year.

Dak was 2-2 through 4 starts this year also.

The difference?

The combined record of the teams Dak faced is 17-29 while Rush's is 25-22.

Dak played 1 team that currently has a winning record through 4 starts this year. Rush has only played 1 team that doesn't have a winning record through 4 starts this year.
Hmm.
