Cooper Rush still leads the Cowboys in passing yards

I think, as I said earlier, sometimes things work better with one guy vs another

4-1 against tougher teams, 2-2 against lesser teams.

I don't have to explain that. It is what it is
But we could present an argument that we were 4-1 when our defense only gave up 14 points a game . And 2-2 when it gave up 30 points a game. We can explain that too.

I do t care. It doesn't fit my agenda. It doesn't fit my narrative...truth and facts are irrelevant....

So then explain it

Why did the defense perform appreciably better in those 5 games?

Dumb luck?

So your narrative is our 27th ranked offense is what was carrying us in those games? Ok then .. lol

I guess I missed all of that coverage of how great our QB and offense was carrying us to victory. That’s not the analysis and evaluations I was reading. It was mostly about our defense.

and what has Dak accomplished in his 7 year career, besides run off good receivers and kiss Jerry's ***?
Oh you know, he had that big 3rd down run against Seattle in the playoffs about 5 years ago. Signature win, baby.

That’s why we won was the point. Is your argument that our 27th ranked offense is what won those games?

My argument is, it doesn't matter why it worked.

It worked.

4-1 vs significantly better competition.

2-2 vs significantly weaker competition.

I'll be the first to admit I can't give you a detailed bullet point explanation of why it worked out like that. I have some broad brush opinions as explained earlier. But end of the day, why or how it worked better is just details

Why does Brad Johnson or Jeff Hostetler have as many rings as Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees?

End of the day, who gives a ****?

If it works it works. And this year, the team as a whole has performed appreciably better with rush under center so far. That's an undeniable fact

Of course it matters.

Thanks but I’m here to take on the extremes on both sides as most Cowboy fans are more in the middle and we’re sick of a handful of Hackers and Homers dominating the slug fest derailing civilized critique .

Just didn't want you to pick a fight with someone who agreed with you

You're having enough trouble trying to explain why the team as a whole responds and performs better with Rush at QB than with Dak.

No need going after a guy who's in the same foxhole with you....

Why? Aren't cowboy victories what we all want?

Or would you rather argue about how it "should" work instead of why it "does" work?
Yes, but that’s what analysts do is discuss the how and why.

A forum is all about open discussion not used to bash or troll aspects they don’t like .

Fair enough

So let's get back to analysis.

Please, explain to me why or how the defense performed at a significantly higher level against far better competition with rush starting, vs dak?

If Dak was this great leader who energized the locker room with his presence and talent, wouldn't it stand to reason that the guys would perform better with him leading the team?

Not being snarky. You said this was easily explained earlier. So please explain. I'm willing to listen and discuss sincerely.

Is it possible maybe dak isn't this beloved leader as we're so often told? Maybe the guys don't respond all that well
to him as much as people think?

It was great that we were able to win some games with Rush. Finally we have backup who can come in and keep the season afloat.

But if our top 10 defense didn’t dominate I’m not sure we’d of won any of those. It’s not like Rush and our offense ran away with them.

I don’t think any serious fans believe he’s our longtime solution here. After the Egirls game we saw he can’t be called on to put up big numbers when needed. Which is ok. It’s not expected.

Prescott is expected to put up bigger numbers and he has but it hasn’t delivered so far as good results mainly because of the loss Sunday or he’d be 3-0 since his return . Big upset by GB. Our defense had no answer. I doubt Rush puts up 28. He hadn’t all year.

And that’s the difference. There’s going to be games where we need more production from our QB and offense . And Prescott provides that ability even though he may not always deliver.

When I said easily explained I was referring to our top 10 defense only giving up 14 points a game was carrying us not Rush and our bottom tier offense. Rush played solid but we saw the issues we were afraid of if we needed more offensive production.

When you play the better offenses and QB’s you can’t always rely on your defense to totally shut them down. You may have to stay with them in scoring. And it appears our weakness in defense is being more exploited by teams who can run the ball. And could continue being a problem,

its simple. 4-1 when we give up less than 20. 2-2 otherwise. same shiitty offense.

Cincinnati wasn’t playing well when we played them in week two and the Rams haven’t looked good all season. As I mentioned to the other poster our defense was playing much better when Rush was at QB. Our defense is starting to regress and our run defense has gotten worse every week. We had a 14 point lead on Sunday and the defense and playcalling had a lot to do with us blowing that lead.
Part of managing a game and being a winner is knowing the flow of a game, do we need to eat clock do I need to check down Do I need to scramble for a first down here etc.

If our defense is in the midst of breaking down feel free to add to the score. Save some of that stat padding from the Chicago game for when the team need a big play
