Cooper Rush's Options?

Teams had zero interest on acquiring him on the cheap (2 years, 5 mil) last time.

I don't think much has changed.

Just throwing a dart here, but I'll say Tampa? Kyle Trask is a FA this year, and a team interested in Rush is probably a playoff contender that wants a step in and win 1-2 games to keep you afloat type backup which is what Rush is.

Other teams to watch might be New Orleans due to the KM/Nussemeier connection, but I would think they would want to go with someone young and developmental behind Carr. Minnesota could be interested as a vet influence JJ McCarthy backup in what is essentially his rookie year. Detroit could be a sneaky pick too depending on how they view the development of Hendon Hooker. They brought in Bridgewater late last year so I would guess they dont think as high of him now as they did when they drafted him.

The issue for Rush is going to be that the backup QB FA market this year is a pretty decent one. The draft seems to lack a high volume of potential starters, but there are a lot of guys with multiple years of starting experience in college that profile as plug in day 1 backup QB types. There should be a ton of competition for backup jobs this year and Rush is a polarizing guy who has proven he can win games, but also hasnt looked overly impressive doing so.

Everyone here in Louisiana is wanting and expecting Carr gone. Rush would be a descent stop gap the first half of the season while acclimating Spencer Ratler to Moores offense before giving him his shot at the backend of the season!

So where will Cooper end up? Just wondering what everyone on here thinks will be his best team to sign with? Sounds like his days here are over. Will New Orleans and Kellen Moore want him? I hope he has a lot of teams pursuing him as a backup QB.
All the best to him.
He's had a good career as a backup. I see coaching in his future. A team with a rookie or young starter would be a win, win.

Its an interesting thought, I just struggle to see him as a starter when you have guys like Cousins, Darnold, even a Jameis Winston sitting there in free agency. Maybe the cap situation for NO is so bad they have to look a tier lower IDK.

I agree with this so much. I think the way Rush ran the offense last year was so underrated. He has won a lot of games in his career for being a backup QB and very little had to do with his physical abilities. The guys football IQ is through the roof, and if he has any interest in coaching in a couple years I think any team would be smart to keep him close to their organization.

Was thinking New Orleans, but for a cap crunched team, and looking to dump Carr potentially, it doesn't make sense to sign a limited stop gap.
Their WR's are built on speed, and Rush, well, makes Chad Pennington look like Dan Marino.

I'm not sure of his market. He's a smart QB, for a backup he does well in limiting his mistakes most games. Sees the play well. Just his arm isn't what you want.
Guys like Winston can bounce around for years due to their arm. Rush is a solid backup QB, but his arm will always limit his appeal-at least at market value for a #2 QB.

Cousins is toast, Darnold is going to get overpaid in Minny and the Saints already sent Winston packing in order to sign Carr!
Apparently Loomis announced yesterday that Carr would be back… can’t workout away to escape 50m deadcap!

he may get another small contract for a couple of years. familiariy is what Jones likes. plus he is cheap.
if they don't and find a cheaper option, which could be available and about the same type then they might make that leap.
cooper may get a chance to be back up for another team. he has another couple of years in the league to make money and retire uncermouniously
