No I didn't know. You do know the franchise tag is $30M and Dak has an $89M dead cap next year........right?
But Dak can't be allowed to drag out another season.

I don’t know that I would say “fantastic”. Rush has thrown several passes that should have been picks. If they were picks he might be 0 and 3 this year. There is an element of luck to these three wins.I voted for Dak as our starter. So while I'm not the target audience of this thread I'd like to share my thoughts.
Cooper is doing a fantastic job. He's probably the best backup QB in the league right now. Well, maybe just behind Jimmy G. But I doubt he could be the starter for any team and carry them for a whole season. So what team would pick him up as their starter? IF he can win against the Rams and Philly, then probably a few. Otherwise he'll be the backup forever. And what team is gonna pay a huge amount of money for a backup QB?
So if he loses the next two games, resign him for a reasonable amount of money. He has proven himself, seems to be a great teammate and knows the system. As far as I am concerned he can end his career here in Dallas.
If he wins those next two games, he'll just be too expensive. We need that cap money elsewhere. In that case let him go and try Grier next. But the question is: could we do anything to be able to trade him for some picks though? Like resign and then trade? Dunno...
No disrespect but unless things change drastically, giving Rush the franchise tag would be an insane idea. But Dak isn't the answer. That much has been made clear. The Cowboys are going to eat a big loss; are they going to make it worse by letting him destroy next season, too?
You don't want to have to start all over with a rookie.
The franchise tag on Rush is the smartest move, assuming he proves to be solid the rest of the way. It's gonna hurt, but Jerry should never have given Dak the big contract.
In no scenario can Dak be allowed to waste another season.
Garoppolo's career/contract...... was Brady's backup for 3 years, starting 2 games. The 49ers signed him to a deal $27M per

well hard to say right now, and it depends on what he does in rams game, and the phil game.Who do you see chasing him for a starting job? I don't follow other teams enough to have a valid opinion.
I hold him to a different standard than Dak. He is our backup QB and took an offense far from being top notch to a very steady (and good enough for winning games) point production. Three wins in a row is more than we'd all expected from him.I don’t know that I would say “fantastic”. Rush has thrown several passes that should have been picks. Having said that I appreciate what he has done and the fact that we are 3 and 0 with him starting a game and we wouldn’t be 3 and 0 without him.
This is a question for 41% of the fans in the poll that want him starting over Dak. He's a free agent after the season. He's your starting QB......what are you going to do? Keep in mind he has a total of what, NFL games under his belt.
Curious about this, since there is a poll where nearly half of our fans/posters want him starting over Dak and the fact he's a free next season.
- franchise tag......$29
- long-term contract
- let him walk
