Matt Flynn got 26 million based on much less.

That said, we are in agreement. Time will tell.

Not sure where you are getting your info on Matt Flynn.

He signed a 3 year deal for 19.5m in 2012 after being in the league 4 years....so average of 6.5.

He signed for multiple years at minimum, and had another contract that was 2 years for 11.5, which he didn't even get the second year.

Look at his numbers, he did nothing until the last week of the 2011 season when he blew up for like 450 yards. He then signed a more than fair contract.

I'm going off memory mainly here, so I may he a bit fuzzy, but that is my point. Longevity doesn't really matter, I was speaking on production.

Edit: lol yeah he had 450 yards and 6 tds vs Lions. The next off season he got PAID.

Uh...he never got 26m. Highest yearly pay was 6.5m.

Oh I see, my bad. Wouldn't you agree the point remains the same? What's 19 million over three years, a decade ago vs now?

Espn: Flynn, you may recall, parlayed his brief success as a backup with the Green Bay Packers into a three-year, $26 million contract with the Seattle Seahawks in 2012 -- only to lose the job to rookie Russell Wilson.

What can I say ESPN sucks?

I would love to keep Rush as the back up QB and I believe he will command around $5 million a year. I doubt very, very seriously that any of the 32 teams view Rush as a potential starting QB in 2023. However, if for some stupid reason the Dallas front office viewed him as a potential starting QB next year I would hope like heck they hedged their bets and did everything possible to move up in the draft to get a suitable competitor for the job.

Dak will return to the starter when he is healthy. Dak will be the starter in 2023. Dallas would have $89 million of dead cap space from cutting Dak next year. That is not happening. Rush has developed into a competent backup and that is his ceiling. If we retain him in 2023 it will be as a backup and at a backup QB price.

Ram game is the biggest game of Rush's life.

I say this because he auditioning for a starting job probably with another team, but for say 27-30 million
range.
So that is a big difference from what he is making this season and in the past.(25 million dollar difference.)

So I wish him luck, and hope he can play good in this game and win it.
Not for the cowboys, or him taking daks job, but for his future.

I hope his team mates step up and play good for him.

If he does play good and win, then the phil game will be the biggest of his life ! lol poor guy
He cant afford to lose even once, and that is very difficult.

So even if your a dak fan root for rush the rams game and possibly the eagles game, it is his future.

It's a truly important game for him personally.
I hadn't considered anyone offering him a starting job. But, I have to admit, he's making a case for himself. Each game becomes more important with each win...making it at least worth the discussion. I don't think he has the skillset to do it. But a few weeks ago I was POSITIVE that he didn't. He's proven me wrong so far.

Who do you see chasing him for a starting job? I don't follow other teams enough to have a valid opinion.

Every game is the biggest of his life.

Why you ask? Just about everyone can't wait till he loses one so the "he sucks" n "start Mr Prescott" throng arrives. Sad but true.

Go Cowboys!

This is a question for 41% of the fans in the poll that want him starting over Dak. He's a free agent after the season. He's your starting QB......what are you going to do? Keep in mind he has a total of what, NFL games under his belt.

Curious about this, since there is a poll where nearly half of our fans/posters want him starting over Dak and the fact he's a free next season.
  • franchise tag......$29
  • long-term contract
  • let him walk

But Dak isn't the answer. That much has been made clear. The Cowboys are going to eat a big loss; are they going to make it worse by letting him destroy next season, too?
You don't want to have to start all over with a rookie.
The franchise tag on Rush is the smartest move, assuming he proves to be solid the rest of the way. It's gonna hurt, but Jerry should never have given Dak the big contract.
In no scenario can Dak be allowed to waste another season.

I'd love to keep him as our backup. But, maybe he's playing himself into a more lucrative position. Still a good problem to have.

That tells you a lot about the knowledge of those 41% and it’s not good.
Let's not forget- Dak was providing NO PRODUCTION before he got hurt.
Dak can't compete against teams with winning records.
Dak has repeatedly choked in high pressure games.
The Cowboys IMPROVED when Dak went out and Rush came in.
Sounds like 41% are Cowboys fans; 58% seem to be Dak fans.
And that 58% is probably a lot less than that if you factor in the multiple accounts of the same posters who voted for Dak.

You do know the franchise tag is $30M and Dak has an $89M dead cap next year........right?

...or perhaps it shows that 41% of fans that replied have no confidence in the direction this organization was heading and are desperate for change.

Dalton got a shot at starting after leaving here…I don’t see Rush being any worse than Dalton and I DO see a ton of rubbish starting at QB all around the league so I could def see someone giving Rush a shot at starting

Rush has increased his value as a QB. You will probably not get Rush on a minimum deal anymore. A team will probably be willing to pay Rush $3-$5M per year as a backup. That’s 3-5x what he is making per year now. That’s significant money for him.

If I was a team looking for a bridge starter ( and willing to give Rush an opportunity to win the starting slot) I still wouldn’t pay Rush more than about $5m per year on a two or three year deal, OR a $7m one year prove it deal.

If Rush really believes in himself he would take a 1 year prove it deal and establish himself as a marginal starter and sign a longer term deal after that.

These numbers still might be a bit high for what Rush is worth. Some team might pay him more than that, but I wouldn’t.

I’m hoping some team pays him enough to get a comp pick out of him.

That wasn’t the subject of this thread. Why are you trying to change it? Rhetorical question.
