Say at the 14th pick we have the choice between these 2 players. Who would you take? Or would you take someone completely different?

Coples will not be there

I'd move this to the Draft Zone and then say I'd take DeCastro over any pick in this draft. I think he is the perfect fit in Dallas.

If you were going strictly by physical ability, then you would probably pick Coples; however, as a player, Coples has some bust potential due to questionable work ethic and motor. DeCastro is probably the safest pick in the draft.

Yeah, that bust potential is what would allow him to possibly drop as far as the Cowboys. I think Coples is a beast and would take the chance on him.

Doesnt matter what I would do. No doubt in my mind Jerry takes Coples, and yes he could be there.

Very little chance either busts IMO. DeCastro is a lock not to, and Coples will be playing for his second contract. Coples has elite ability IMO.

This seems likely unless Garrett insists he wants Decastro to solidify the line.

I would lean more towards DeCastro but would not be upset about Coples

Coples hands down. He has the chance to be the biggest impact player of this draft outside of luck and RGIII.

Next time do it in poll format and you'll get more input.

I'd be happy if both of those guys are there--can't lose.

i'd panic that JJ would take Courtney Upshaw:bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2: :bang2:

Great idea! I just added it to the thread.

Interesting you say that. This draft is kinda unique because we have no clue who Dallas plans on taking. Last year it was very obvious we were going to take Tyron Smith...and what a great pick that was. This year I "think" they are going with the defensive front 7.

Name: Quinton Coples
Position: Defensive End
College: North Carolina
Height/Weight: 6-6 / 280
Age: 21 (born June 22, 1990)

Honors: Coples was a two-time All-ACC first-team selection.

Strengths: Even in the ACC, Coples often dominated his competition. He's got engulfing size, matched with linebacker-quickness. He can be a run-stuffing end, as well as an edge-rusher. His 6-6 frame gives him long arms that can be problematic for offensive tackles trying to stick with him as he pushes his way back to the quarterback. With good coaching, he has the ability to be a great one.

Weaknesses: While he's got all the tools, the desired size and the nastiness to play the position, Coples has been criticized for not giving 100 percent effort on all plays. In fact, he even admitted as such during the combine, stating he had to work on his immaturity, which often led to him taking plays off. Now physically, he won't have a lot of weaknesses, other than maybe learning new schemes. But Coples has played in multiple defenses in college and so it wouldn't be foreign for him to play defensive end in a 3-4 scheme.

Coples (Based on size 284lbs) seems like Greg Ellis, to big and slow to play OLB, not big enough to play DE. So then you use him on 3rd down and passing situations as a rush specialist at OLB? Seems like a wasted 1st round pick to me....

I may be way off here because I've never seen him play....

DeCastro seems to be the safer pick but man I want a pass rusher....:D

I'll let Jerry/Garrett make this pick for me:laugh2:

DeCastro, but then I like him for Dallas just about more than any player in this draft... and I worry about Couples desire and love of the game.

DeCastro could play center if we need him to. If both Livings and Bernadeau play well in camp and look like starters, then DeCastro learns to play center and make the line calls. He would probably be very good, very fast at the pivot.

If we end up drafting Blake later in the draft, then DeCastro goes to G and the best of Livings/Bernadeau plays at the other G spot. A totally new interior OL with better than solid backups.

It's a dream scenario for me.

DeCastro seems safer, imo.
But Coples could easily get to 295-300 lbs and not lose a step. He will be very good and his upside is sick.

Tough call, imo.
