Our success this season isn't going unnoticed around the league, could the Cowboys be changing the landscape on offense, with more teams now valuing the run game? I expect more teams to start copying us. what say you?

The trick is the Kismet the Boys are enjoying now. 3 first round picks on O-Line that look like All Pros (yes I know one is a Rook so hold your horses you know what I mean). I can remember SCORES of first round O-Lineman that are B.U.S.T.S. Then to have the right combination of coaching, health and RB talent. I'm sure as hell enjoying it. I love smash mouthed football and nothing gets me as excited as KNOWING our O-Line inspires fear in opponents. All you had to do was look at that Seattle bench yesterday. They were BEATEN.

The NFL has always valued the run game, ever since ,, well EVER. This is not a new formula. We won 5 SB using this exact formula.

That's the way the Broncos of Elway's glory years won. And the Cowboys of the 90s won. And the Dolphins of the 70s. And the Packers of the 60s.
This approach isn't new.

I'm not implying that running the ball is some new formula, but offenses of this decade including us have been passing first. running second.

One thing I don't think will ever change in the NFL and that is teams who can be balanced will be hard to stop. Anytime you rely on one thing and it is disrupted or taken from you then your dead in the water. Being able to run and throw forces defense to play the entire field you can't stop one thing without the other getting you in the end. Romo yards may go down this season but the effectiveness of the passing game is just as good as it has ever been.

A lot of teams have work to do in drafting O-linemen in the first, if thats the case.

Dallas isnt doing anything revolutionary. We have all the elements in place now. A strong offense , a qb that can extend plays and make throws and a solid D. Some teams are run heavy due to the fact they are missing an element. We do it because we want to.

We only the value the run game, because we're good at it. If we weren't good at it, we'd throw more. If other teams COULD match our rushing production, they would.

Were good at it because we planned for it, drafted for it, and practiced it

Other teams can do the same, it is not magic

They are following the Cowboys blueprint of the 90s.
Run the ball and play defense is hardly a blueprint exclusive to the Cowboys...

None of the teams that do that have won anything.

While the bigger stats might have come from the passing game, every team that has won the Super Bowl pretty much ever has had a run game that has to be accounted for. Even the Packers and the Saints had success running the ball, despite the success that Rodgers and Brees were having.

Hell the 2 SB wins for Dallas in the 70s where after we got star RBs breaking out.

True 1st and foremost you put a very good OL out there who can open holes and give the QB time then a team is able to use all the weapons they have.

Packers were like one of the worst running teams in the league that year weren't they?

Maybe I should have been more specific. I was replying to a previous poster that Seattle and SF had the blueprint of running the ball first before we did. Thus my response was that we didn't copy them. They copied us by using that same blueprint that won us those Superbowls in the 90s. Yes running the ball and playing good defense is not a blueprint exclusive to the Cowboys which should be most obvious to most.
