Could this trade end up being the McCaffrey trade which changes the offense for Dallas?

I have seen the threads about aged running backs and how they have a use before date. Yet McCaffrey energized the 9ers offense. I'm not much for trading for this position. I believe the offensive line is much more important and needs a shot in the arm. There might be a strong possibility Henry gets here and is stifled by defenses because the Dallas line can't open holes. If that is the case then a trade like this is pointless.

But....
Adding a player who gets the tough yards, and goes into a rotation with Pollard might strengthen the running game. Just that fact changes the play action. And that can change a great deal about how defenses face this offense.

Now before anyone says it, I doubt Jethro and his cohort Little Enos will pull the trigger on something like this. I've thought about it and wonder if there is enough logic to make this trade. But as we all know, logic and Jerry broke up long before Jerry broke up with Jimmy.

What say you about this being the lynchpin to change the offense?

I agree it would be. I think people are underestimating the impact Henry would have on this offense. Redzone, wildcat formations, blocking, and even dump offs, all that coupled with it making Pollard go back to what he is good at and changing the pace.

Lets also not leave out how PHYSICAL Henry is. Something this finesse team is sorely lacking, and that also will rub off on other guys. He will beat up opposing teams defenses as well making them less willing to tackle.

You want an identity? Go get Henry. Grind other teams into submission.

I think it would change the Cowboys offense, but in a very different way than CMC. Henry IMO is a significant upgrade to the RB position but he is still a semi one dimensional north/south player.....the good news is that dimension is the one the Cowboys are missing. Not the flash or versatility of a CMC, but he does likely help convert short yardage/goal line situations to help extend drives and come away with 7 instead of 3 more often.

Adding Henry would not come as close as SF acquiring CMC but would be about as close as you can get for this team, right now.
Cowboys backfield is a major need at this point, just MHO.

Phildadon - I have been hearing this finesse team label since Dallas entered the NFL. I think your post has a great deal of positive aspects, but the finesse comment just doesn't connect with me. That Chargers' game was a fist fight against a really good defensive front. So was the Jets game. If healthy, these guys will battle. And the defense is far removed from finesse.

However, I agree with the rest of your post. No dig on you, just a difference of opinion.

You make a great point. I should have been clearer that I don't expect Henry to be McCaffrey. But his addition would have an impact which gins up the offense. Just in a different way. But I agree with your point.

agreed with the caveat it also allows pollard to bring his (poor man’s) mccafrey abilities to the table too

They can be physical with those teams. Teams like San Fran. They curl up into a ball.

I think Pollard just isnt built to run between the tackles. Zeke even on those 2-3 yard runs still hurt guys tackling him allowing Pollard to use his speed. When you go from tackling 5.7 Zeke to 4.3 Pollard its like getting a changeup after a 103 MPH fastball.

..not really, since Henry is pounding/hammer back. He's basically Zeke on Roids.

They haven't made such a move in years, I need to see it to believe it.

Pollard got $10mil this season, I highly doubt Jerruh will bring in a better back.

I thought Pollard could handle the load, but perhaps he did need Zeke pounding the ball to set the game up for him.
Actually, did did Elliot. I don’t know how people didn’t notice.
