I agree it would be. I think people are underestimating the impact Henry would have on this offense. Redzone, wildcat formations, blocking, and even dump offs, all that coupled with it making Pollard go back to what he is good at and changing the pace.

Lets also not leave out how PHYSICAL Henry is. Something this finesse team is sorely lacking, and that also will rub off on other guys. He will beat up opposing teams defenses as well making them less willing to tackle.

You want an identity? Go get Henry. Grind other teams into submission.
Interesting. I think people are massively overrating the impact Henry would have on this offense, which would be none.

Could this trade end up being the McCaffrey trade which changes the offense for Dallas?

I have seen the threads about aged running backs and how they have a use before date. Yet McCaffrey energized the 9ers offense. I'm not much for trading for this position. I believe the offensive line is much more important and needs a shot in the arm. There might be a strong possibility Henry gets here and is stifled by defenses because the Dallas line can't open holes. If that is the case then a trade like this is pointless.

But....
Adding a player who gets the tough yards, and goes into a rotation with Pollard might strengthen the running game. Just that fact changes the play action. And that can change a great deal about how defenses face this offense.

Now before anyone says it, I doubt Jethro and his cohort Little Enos will pull the trigger on something like this. I've thought about it and wonder if there is enough logic to make this trade. But as we all know, logic and Jerry broke up long before Jerry broke up with Jimmy.

What say you about this being the lynchpin to change the offense?
IMO it won’t matter if our defense can’t stop the run. But I’d love to get Henry in Dallas. His style won’t mk up for our average o-line. This o-line has been overrated for several years because of some great yrs more than 2 yrs back.

The offensive line isn't the problem...offensive time together, continuity, is.

I hope they do better than the 49ers. The 49ers haven't won in 28 years and now their qb has a brain injury. The 49ers can't have nice things.

This has to be the silliest Henry thread yet. Can’t believe anyone’s worried about what number he would get. We’re not trading for him, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

I’m here to contribute. If you’re going to start threads you have to deal with everyone’s opinion. If you want my opinion, Derrick Henry isn’t going to get number 22 for the Cowboys if they traded for him. That number along with 74 and 12 has been unofficially retired. Henry better hope he doesn’t come here if number 22 means that much to him.

Give him #30 for the amount of carries he should get per game. Just pounding him into the defense would help tremendously against Philly and San Fran

Nobody uses the wildcat anymore.

“Grind other teams into submission.” He can do that? Grind other teams into submission is worth at least two 2nd round draft picks. I mean, if Henry can grind other teams into submission he’s a ticket to a Super Bowl victory. And “less willing to tackle”, because defenders are “beat up”. Maybe the Cowboys should look into all the guys that do tackle him. They should trade fror those guys. How do the Tennessee Titans ever lose? Explain to me how a team with a guy as “PHYSICAL” as Henry is, beating up opposing teams’ defenses and grinding them into submission ever loses a game. Just to clarify my thinking, how does that happen?

I won't say none, but I do agree that it would be massively less than people expect.

Most on here have obviously never watched him.
