Could Henry trade end up being the McCaffrey trade for Cowboys?

Our 2nd or 3rd round pick should of been a RB.. It was a glaring weakness before the draft. people around here thought that Dowdle and Malik Davis were serviceable.. So know like always the FO will overcompensate..

Reactive. NEVER proactive.

The problem is with the offensive line, not running back
Tennessee's OL isnt great and Henrys is at 4.3 YPC. On paper. Dallas OL is much better.

Oh. And Henry is also facing 8-9 man boxes a heck of a lot more than Pollard.

He is part of the problem. However. How he is being used is a bigger part.

Guy got caught in the open field a week ago. That wouldnt have happened in 2022

Our runningback is not a problem at all.

Getting Henry isn’t about Pollard.

If anything it’s more about when Dak doesn’t show up in a big game and McCarthy decides he wants 5 blockers trying to block 7 people.

Tony Pollard is a top 10 RB.

Adding Henry would not come as close as SF acquiring CMC but would be about as close as you can get for this team, right now.
Cowboys backfield is a major need at this point, just MHO.
We had an offense before Henry, SF didn’t have much before CMC

I think Pollard just isnt built to run between the tackles. Zeke even on those 2-3 yard runs still hurt guys tackling him allowing Pollard to use his speed. When you go from tackling 5.7 Zeke to 4.3 Pollard its like getting a changeup after a 103 MPH fastball.
I'll equate that to boxing. You usually don't get a knockout by consistently trying to throw big blows to the head. You get it by softening up the body first and then you can deliver the haymaker. I think what we're doing by trying to use our haymaker to soften up the body is making it harder for him to deliver the big blow. Having someone like Henry to hammer on the defense, allows Pollard to stay fresher instead of running over and over again into the teeth of the defense and deliver the knockout blow. Defenses don't like tackling those big boys and it takes their legs away.

Pollard got $10mil this season, I highly doubt Jerruh will bring in a better back.

I thought Pollard could handle the load, but perhaps he did need Zeke pounding the ball to set the game up for him.
I am willing to eat my share of crow on this.

Every bit as influential for offensive production, downfield movement sustainment, and Red Zone dominance.

Does anyone seriously think we're stronger at the RB position now than we were last year?

O-line issues aside, it's a mistake to rely on Pollard for 80-90% of the carries. And a JAG like Dowdle probably isn't the answer, if the goal is to split carries a bit more evenly and keep Pollard within his workload comfort zone.

D. Henry would be an instant roster upgrade...not only for the singular talents he brings to the table, but also for the fact that he'll make Pollard more effective.

This is a move that could have quite a significant impact but i doubt anything happens beyond an honest offer

This whole situation highlights just how horrible the Cowboys front office is at actually evaluating their own talent. They did this same thing when they got rid of Dez and decided to make a go of it with Beasley as WR 1. They were so sure that Dak would turn into Aaron Rodgers and elevate the receiving corp with his play.

I knew it was going to be a problem when they let Zeke walk
