Could This D Be Worse Than Last Year

I guess I must be the only one who sees that regardless of what defensive coordinator is in charge, this is like the 4th in as many years, the defense still looks the same.

I think just maybe the players on defense might not be good players with the exception of maybe 3 out of the 11. Well not maybe to me.

So regardless of coach or scheme this is the norm.

My opinion.

The reality is we are experiencing growing pains with a new coach(who is inexperienced), scheme(which does not fit our personnel), and players (especially young player sin key positions). In retrospect, it was a bad idea to introduce so many new things with Daks contract being what it is and Jerry's age.

I mean I guess but I still have trouble distinguishing big differences under Eberflus, Zimmer or Quinn's group as they were very experienced DCs.

Well, I mean at least Quinns version could rush the passer and get turnovers they just got run all over in the run game.

So again, regardless of player turnover, it still looks the same to me.

I really didn’t think a defense could be worse than last year but apparently I was wrong. This defense so far in three game makes last years defense look good.

When you throw 40 times and run the ball 19 times, that's a formula the Cowboys love. Our guy gets his stats, and the defense gets more time to play. Go Cowboys.

The Baltimore Ravens finished the game with 20 passing attempts and 31 rushing carries split between their running backs

Well that speaks to a larger issue. You are coaching in Dallas to please the OWNER....NOT the GM. But that is the crux of the issue...if the OWNER likes you, there is no proper evaluation from the GM...oh....did I mention the OWNER and the GM are the SAME person. It is a **** show of the highest order.

That is how a coach like Jason Garret can hang around in Dallas for 10 years as the head coach..and when we let him go...in one of the weirdest exits for a head coach in modern NFL history...he has not been a head coach since. He hung around because the OWNER liked him...but the other organizations across the NFL did a proper evaluation of him and have no interest. And how do you coach that long at one team and not produce any semblance of a coaching tree??? What coach who coached under Garrett is make noise in the NFL....maybe Kellen Moore?

Abandoned the Run: Javonte Williams was averaging a hot 5.2 yards per carry, but Dallas completely abandoned the ground game. Instead of feeding the hot hand to control the tempo, they got pass-happy and let Dak Prescott chuck it 40 times.
Stopped the Clock, Gassed the Defense: All those incomplete passes did exactly what you shouldn’t do when your defense is struggling—they stopped the clock, shortened drives, and threw a tired defense right back onto the field.
Worn Down by the Run: Because the offense couldn't sustain long, grinding drives, Baltimore’s offense stayed fresh. The Ravens physically bullied Dallas, shoving 38 total rushes (26 from Derrick Henry alone) right down the defense's throat until they cracked at the very end.

Great game planning from the college coach and his stat-padding QB.

Good call.

And I'll bet you're referring to that same combination GM/Owner who quite lazily only needed to go down the hall to find his current coach who was an assistant under the previously departed coach BUT did not exactly show an impressive career resume. What a true vetting process as to selecting the Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys.
Sarcasm extreme.

I'll just bet that's the GM/Owner you're referring to.

last year Eberflus D was historically bad. he was screwed when they traded Parsons, but Eberflus never made any adjustments. just let the same problems happen over and over again. he had some of the worst players, like K Murray, Sanborn, so he has some excuse.

but this year, CP had a big say in which players they got for his D so its surprising this D is actually worse. CP is playing players in positions they have never played before and you can see them struggling badly. why are our DEs covering TEs and RBs, playing zone? why is Downs playing slot and chasing WRs instead of playing the ball in front of him? what the hell is Winters doing? he is actually K Murray in a new uniform? why is Bell on the team?

teams are still running like all over the field at will and DBs and S playing way off. there are so many holes in CPs zone D.
I can't figure out the DT results

We are better, but should have saved the Micah picks.

ironically if we kept zimmer we wouldnt be having this many issues
3 schemes in 3 years, and yet so far ive only seen improvement with zimmer as the year went on (so far anyway, but im seeing the same issues as last year)

Reminds me of the Marinelli failure vs Green Bay in the playoffs.

Both ended with long FGs.
