last year Eberflus D was historically bad. he was screwed when they traded Parsons, but Eberflus never made any adjustments. just let the same problems happen over and over again. he had some of the worst players, like K Murray, Sanborn, so he has some excuse.

but this year, CP had a big say in which players they got for his D so its surprising this D is actually worse. CP is playing players in positions they have never played before and you can see them struggling badly. why are our DEs covering TEs and RBs, playing zone? why is Downs playing slot and chasing WRs instead of playing the ball in front of him? what the hell is Winters doing? he is actually K Murray in a new uniform? why is Bell on the team?

teams are still running like all over the field at will and DBs and S playing way off. there are so many holes in CPs zone D.
We knew the Cowboys secondary was going to be a problem before the season started. People talking up Revell and others were eating the cheese.

Bell was probably the reason they lost yesterday and I don't say that lightly. He was awful and I think the Ravens may have been picking on him. If I recall correctly, every big play he was involved in in a negative way. He's another guy who showed promise as a rookie but has not developed at all. They need to get Bell off the field. They cut guys better than him before teh season.

I am also shocked by how bad Dee Winters is. The way some 49ers player talked him up I thought we were getting a player. But he is slow to react and slow on his feet. He can't get off blocks. He is just bad. Maybe Overshown should take his spot with Barham staying where he is..

I did see improvement from the defense yesterday, especially the interior DL. Downs, and Barham in particular look like great draft picks. And give credit to Q Williams. He had a really good game. But like I said with Parsons, one guy can only do so much. It takes all eleven to play great defense. One weak link will be exploited by a smart offense and that is exactly what the Ravens did with Bell yesterday.

Winters leads the team in tackles.

That time is up. 3 games and theyre still getting burned the same ways. Nothings changing.
They are showing improvements but yes it needs to get better.

They keep changing guys in the secondary because of injuries so it’s just a mess.

We are an offensive team and the offense failed with the game on the line.

The coach failed by kicking it off. They get the ball at the 35 and 7 seconds is a lot of time for a QB like Lamar who only needs a field goal.

20 yards and you’re in range. That’s bad coaching.

Improvement of what exactly?
Multiple terrific defensive plays and stops.

Baltimore was 3 of 9 on third down.

Henry was held largely in check other than one big run.

Lots of good things. Just not enough consistency overall.

The secondary was missing 3 safeties and two corners to injury. That's tough on any team.

That is improvement. It looked leagues better than the Giants game and against a much better opponent.

Still a ways to go obviously.

The lack of pass rush and pressures is getting alarming.

But it really doesnt matter, we were historically bad last year and historically bad this year.

We are terrible in the secondary and have no pass rush, we arent even blitzing creatively.

I think they can improve some but we are missing some pieces still.

The pass rush will come around, I'm convinced. Especially if they get Von Miller out of here. Dart, Daniels, and Jackson don't help that issue. Stroud is a statue, so should be be better this week.

The secondary is just obliterated with injuries. That's unfortunate.

They held Baltimore to 3 of 9 on 3rd down and had two fourth-down stands. Last year's defense could have never done that.

So when you start a new job/new position, are you an expert or should the boss fire you after a week or two because you're not an expert at the position yet?

so far they seem to be

This team absolutely can't rush the passer. That's why this defense is bad and continue to be bad until we find pass rushers.
