Could we get Quinn?

Have any played baseball? Stay away if so. :laugh1:

How about Troy Smith, he may be only 6-1 but he makes plays. No one mentioned him yet. And he may slip to where we may pick. Why he may slip, I have absolutely no idea, maybe becasue he does not have the prototypical size.

Good point. I'd be for that

Chris Leak doesn't have a very good arm and he's around 6' tall. Don't expect him to go on the first day.

Henne's arm isn't a rocket either. He makes a living throwing screens, crossing routes to the TE, and deep balls to WRs who are top 10 material. I'm not sure if he grades out beyond a second rounder.

The potential players on offense in this draft (if some juniors come out) are impressive. A bunch of good wideouts, some good QBs, good OLs, great RBs.

I agree on every point. It's also a very good draft for safeties.

I'm with you here. 6-1...5-11...I could care less the guy can play.

Troy Smith would be a several year project if he makes it at all.

I think Troy Smith would be a great pick and would land near us without having to trade up.

If we took troy smith with a first round pick I would have to fly to dallas and smack jerry jones, jeff ireland and parcells (if parcells is still the coach).

Troy Smith is a good College Quarterback, I have a feeling he MAY be a good backup NFL QB at best.

I have watched Troy Smith and all I see is a somewhat slower Michael Vick. Maybe a somewhat smaller Vince Young. I do not see someone that could be a good starting Pro QB without several years of work.

He has not played as well this year= though certainly some of that is due to an underperforming O line (sound familiar=but he is a lot more mobile then DB is). He might not be the first player drafted, though probably still the first QB taken. Either the Raiders or the packers or the Texans will probably have the first 3 picks in some order= none of them will take a QB. The Bills, Titans who could be there along with maybe Miami are all teams not likely to take a QB. So Quinn might last untill 6 or 7. We will probably be drafting in the 20's. Just how hard would it be to trade up? I would be willing to the 2007 and 2008 first rd picks to do it.

Where Quinn will fall in the draft will be determined in large part by the teams at the top of the draft who may be looking for a QB. While this may not be Quinns best year in college teams are not going to discount what he has done at ND and aginst the competition he has faced while playing there. I like Quinn but no way do I part with 2 #1's to get him.

Don't worry, we'll use our first two picks to add some more depth to our defensive line. ;-)

2 #1's is a good price for a good QB. I always hated the Galloway trade since maybe only Rice, Moss,TO and a few others are worth that price- Galloway never was!!!

Quinn is the man and would be the best fit for Dallas. He runs pretty much the same offense. However, I don't see us picking high enough to snag him. I would consider giving up this year and next years #1 to get him.

Two of ND 's games this year were in driving rain storms and his numbers are still sick. I don't understand how people can say he is having a sub par year. 1600 yards and 16 td's vs 4 ints sounds awesome to me.

He had a bad game against Michigan- on National TV. People jumped on that who were looking for a reason to dump on him. Michigan played unreal in that game and the Irish stank it up. The ND O line has been inconsistant at best and Quinn is missing Stoval who provided a really big target. McKnight is rusty and Smardj has been covered like a blanket. the TE has really come through who replaced Fasano and has become Quinns go to guy. As I pointed out, he is a lot more mobile then DB and is a real leader. There is not a more complete QB in college football- certainly no one over the last two years that has run a pro style offense so well against great competition.

I'm not so high on Quinn. While I see lots of upside, I see lots of questions too. He has to prove to me he can play when the pressure is on.

So last years game with USC was not enough? The pressure at ND on the QB is ALWAYS high. His comebacks have shown he can handle the pressure. The game this year vs Michigan State was an all time classic. Last years MSU game was also a great comeback.

realistically I see us drafting in the mid 20's. I hope for #32 but reality is that we will probably make the playoffs and lose in the first rd.

Two things IMHO, for what little it's worth:

1. WHO ever lives up to the hype that is generated in this day-and-age? Throughout all time very few teams/individuals have actually lived up to the hype. I mean look at Reggie Bush this year, so far has he lived up to all the hype he has gotten? Has Michael Vick lived up to his hype? Thus far has Larry Johnson shown that he is going to shatter 2,000 yards this year? Forget the hype look at what is actually there on film, and you can see that Quinn will be a good (possibly very good) NFL QB. And I would love to see Jerry show some brass cajones and go to wherever in the draft he needs to go to land him.

2. To the Chris Leak supporter, looks to me like the guy is in danger of losing his job in college to Tim Tebow (a true freshman). No thanks, I'll pass.

Brandon Cox- Auburn...

Just kidding.. but i think the kid can play. But I would give up whatever it took to get Quinn,, IF Romo is not the answer.
