honestly, i think the lot of you are hypocrites!(sp) if TO came here and with his help we got to the bowl or even teh nfc championship, you all would be frothing at the mouth because our beloved cowboys made an impressive run in the postseason....as for bryant, bryant was pretty much just a whiny kid with potential only....he had FLASHES of brilliance whereas TO is already established as one of the top 4-5 receivers in the league, and its undeniable.....and also i think maybe the eagles, being the first time in recent memory they actually did something worthy of noise in teh offseason, did not shell out enough cash for TO to want remain there....regardless of the presence of mcnabb...however tho there have been some FA hiccups and whatnot jerry is pretty good at keeping the players he wants.....but let the discussion continue!

i hate to admit...but i could.
would i like it ?? no
do i want it to happen ? no
do i think it happens? no
but to answer the original question..yes i could stomach it. i lived through
a lot of crap as a Cowboy fan for the last 40+ years . this would rate right up there with the worst of it. BUT..i would still be a fan and pull for him to play good...collect his money ...then leave as soon as we didnt need, want or
could use him anymore. just typing that out makes me feel like i am making
a deal with the devil. quit asking such hard questions.

This would never happen, but, i would still watch the Cowboys if T.O somehow ended up wearing the star. As long as he help them win the Super Bowl i really don't care what type a person he is.

As much as I can't stand him, I think all these NO's and I'd stop watching football are total posturing.

Irvin played hard, helped us win Super Bowls, and was one of the top WRs of his time, but he also was a me, me, me type of guy, a showboat, and did things off the field that did hurt his team.

We all tolerated Irvin, Lett, and Sanders. We may not have liked everything about them, but we did not stop being Cowboy fans because of them.

Do I hope he becomes a Cowboy? Hell no, but if he helped us win #6...;)

Can we ban the next person who starts a topic like this? This has been beat to death. Please no more T.O to the Cowboys threads.

Penny Hardaway's old stompin ground.

For me, it was Trezevant. Class of '86.
I prefer too call it Elliot Perry's old stomping grounds since I graduated with him in 87. :D

pretty much open season on this topic....im torn on it.....on one hand it would definitely make us the nf east favorites for a 2-3 year window max and knock the eagles out of 2nd place, crating a mess beneath us....we'd have 2 receivers that can be gamebreakers and a surfire chain mover, plus young developing talent....we have 3 qbs that can fire the ball somewhere close to him and throw it downfield....he could easily rack upwards of 10tds....and we have a coach that I like to call Luca Brasi(from The Godfather) who can straighten anybody out, and recently our very own Don Corleone(Jerrah-tho only as far as players are concerned and 2 coaches outta bazillion) so a TO problem wouldnt be much, i mean those 2 can iron any situation out...of ocurse on the other hand TO has done probably the single most disgraceful thing to the Cowboy franchise as any other player...and he got his leg broken by our very own Ronnie Lott v 2.0.... so that could get sticky....i for one am leaning more towards yes to this trade becuase despite the personal disrespect he showed us, he has the ability to make this team at least an every year nfc championship contender....and we have the pieces in place to keep him from self destructing....do i think its a gamble?yep....but one worth betting on because of what it means for our franchise....thoughts?

Absolutely, without equivocation or reservation.... NO FRIGGIN WAY!!!

No way. It may have been said by others, but why in the world would the Eagles trade T.O. to their biggest rival? Not gonna happen. Also, Parcells ran Antonio Bryant out of town. What makes anyone think he's going to put up with Owens who is 10 times more of a problem. I don't care how much talent he has, the T.O. cancer is not worth destroying your team over.

There is a difference between the 3 guys you mention and T.O. They may have done stupid things off the field and were showboats on it, but they were most certainly team guys. They never said it was merely all about them, where T.O. says that all the time. Thats a big difference to me.

I didn't like Irvin or Sanders at all and Lett was just stupid. I would not "stop being a Cowboys fan" if we signed Owens but I would certainly not root for the guy either.

Fortunately, this will NEVER happen so it is a completely moot point. Not sure why people keep bringing it up since there is plenty of other REAL Cowboys news to discuss.

Okay, I'll bite and take the topic serious for a second. Instead of yelling where TO can stick his star-stomping sorry butt, I'll give you my honest two cents:

-- Grabbing TO, or even a Randy Moss, does not make the Cowboys NFC East favorites like the thread starter wrote. It's popular to dump on the older Cowboys receivers but Key and Glenn ain't half bad, especially with Witten in the mix. The problem with the Cowboys is the QB and defense, not the receivers. Defense still has to prove it's not a pushover this year, and Bledsoe has to prove he's not washed up and another post-Aikman disaster. TO will give us more points but if those two aren't fixed it won't make a lick of difference. Philly knew everything was working except for that position. They were in much better shape to take on an expensive, older, "attitude challenged", BUT very talented receiver.

-- After giving Key and Glenn their props, I still admit TO is a much better receiver than both of those guys. He's the type who is going to be physical like Key but still have enough speed for some of the big plays or YAC like Glenn. Folks may hate TO, but admit it, he would help the team. BUT.... if the Cowboys went for a franchise wideout, I doubt they would go for anyone over 30 because of the ages of the other starters. The Cowboys are okay at receiver but not for long. They are in dire need of youth at that position. Crayton or Morgan may not be the answer, but the team needs a much younger receiver than TO. TO is the type of player you only bring in -- especially after his contract demands and recent Philly Tirades -- when you're a player or two away from the big one.

I prefer to call Ronnie Lott "Cliff Harris v 2.0"... that would make Roy "Cliff Harris v 3.0"... ;)

Laying aside for a moment the cost prohibitive factor (cap status) in signing him, TO is just a selfish, immature caricature of a player and embodies what a coach killer truly is. Even with the marquee talent, he's not even a risk vs. reward kind of proposition.
Bringing this guy to your team is simple suicide.

i would also have to rebuke him being a cancer....you dont see the eagles being divided in anyway? they are a strong team with a strong bond....the niners teams w/o jerry rice were fairly weak with a punk for a qb and a way too nice guy for a coach....i think its all aobut environment....and to the little prick who said to ban the next person who makes a topic like this....cmon Art, don't like the idea of free speech?cause the next person to start a topic like this(thought provoking and somewhat controversial) will most likely be me....not to say other questions asked arent thought provoking but....all i know is every thread IVE made has gotten like 5-6 pages worth of replies....and all in all im a cboys fan anyway....wheres the love?
