David Irving was the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for the Packers contest, but don’t look for him to get any more snaps than 20-to-25 a game. The coaches like him in that range while in the rotation. Against the Packers, Irving took his initial snaps at end, then moved inside where he had the majority of his success. Terrell McClain and Maliek Collins will continue to be the starters with Irving, Cedric Thornton and Jack Crawford also getting some looks.

Disappointing.

It appears that Kyle Wilber has lost his starting strong side linebacker spot to Damien Wilson. Wilber, a core special teamer and Jack of all trades player, had been the starter -- but when he suffered a neck injury against the Bengals, Wilson stepped into his place. Wilber is now back at practice, but I have been told that Wilson has been working with the first defense when they play base and then comes off the field in nickel situations.

Interesting yet disturbing. Wilson looks awful half the time.

Yeah so far Wilson doesnt look like he has taken that "big" jump between year one and two.

I did not even know Wilbur was starting or injured.

I would reward Irving by increasing his snaps incrementally to see if he continues his success. I like Maliek Collins' upside, but he's a rookie learning what it takes to compete every down on this level.

The Damien Wilson move just shows how thin we are at linebacker. Outside of Lee, I'm not sure we have a linebacker who would start for another team. We've got a bunch of decent to mediocre backups.

Damn shame that Achilles injury cost Nzeocha so much time. Otherwise he would be the starting SAM

I'm really not sure why so many think Nzeocha is a starter or ready to start. In the limited time we got to see him, I thought he looked like a player who could be developed but that's about all. He wasn't setting the preseason world on fire.
