Couple Things From Broaddus

I think you mean Wilber.
Does it really matter :D He is on the bench with Whitten

Sometimes that jump only comes with playing time. You must get through the early game mistakes for a player to learn and make that improvement.

Unfortunately our collection of internet GM's do not understand this.

I'm really not sure why so many think Nzeocha is a starter or ready to start. In the limited time we got to see him, I thought he looked like a player who could be developed but that's about all. He wasn't setting the preseason world on fire.

Compared to the guys around him, a player that looks like he could be developed is like gold. Wilber and Durant are already as good as they will ever be, which isn't that good, and Wilson had the benefit of being healthy I think. Nzeocha gives us some hope at the spot.

Nzeocha is a 26 year old linebacker who, in effect, missed two seasons (tore his ACL in his senior year), and grew up in Germany. His degree of football experience is very little. To expect someone like him to come in and start after basically two years of being injured, and only participating in half of a training camp is insane.

The coaches are reportedly high on Wilson. I liked the pick coming out, but don't see it until he stops overrunning plays. They must think he's making progress.

Not going to sweat Wilber coming out of the lineup on defense too much, either way.

He must be showing something in the practices. I did game films of the last 3 games and I noticed he's showing up making some tackles. Wilber was always kinda invisible out there. Wilber has 3 tackles in 5 games. Wilson already has 7 in much less playing time.

So even if he is taking bad angles and over running some plays, he does seem to get himself into position to make tackles better than Wilber does.

I agree, which is why I don't expect him to this year. Some want to give playing time to a player who has a steep learning curve.

I like his upside, but if we put him out there, his head would be swimming.

He's barely getting his feet wet and expectations are being rendered like he's already failed his final tests. There's more to be evaluated before it'll be time to make his eventual determination. If every player were to be evaluated in their first active month, few would very likely survive.

Well, I still think Durant is our second-best linebacker, but it doesn't appear he can play at a high level for more than a few plays. Hitchens is hit and miss. Gachkar and Wilbur don't do much wrong, but don't stand out either.

I'm all for Nzeocha winning the role eventually, but I think it's a bit premature based on his limited preseason. Right now, we need someone in there who knows where he needs to be on each play and isn't hesitant to get there ... of course, I'm not sure Wilson is that guy, either.

Last year in far more game action than Wilson, Wilber had 24 tackles. Wilson had 14 and that was while being sent out there in the 4th in games were were already behind on, so he was seeing a lot of runs.

The same trend seems to be playing out this year, with Wilber getting far more playing time but having less to show for it than the newer guy so if the coaches want to put him out there more and see if he can be more productive, I'm all for it.

I worry about the dude on cutback runs and the like. But he's one of those players that's just got to play through the growing pains to get the payoff for the athleticism, I guess.

They were playing him at WIL in camp last year before Lee got back and were reportedly pretty happy with him early on there, too. He was a pretty good blitzer in college, so maybe they're just looking for ways to get more pressure players on the field.

I have no issue with Irving not starting. Lett didn't start despite being the Cowboys most disruptive interior lineman.

Disappointing.

Sounds like Garrett was making some allusions to 95 needing playing proper football on every football down - not sure if it's a stamina/injury avoidance thing with David or more of an assignment discipline issue.

Interesting yet disturbing. Wilson looks awful half the time.

Noticed Wilber whiffing a few times on special teams as well. It would be good to try some PS potentials at this point, the guy offers very little (as doesn't Wilson).
