Jerry is just using the time to evaluate MM and make his decision on whether to resign or go a different direction...not sure why so much vitriol on this one...Jerry is a businessman and he's using the contract protection to its full advantage...yes it sucks for MM and for us fans but as many have said this is the business aspect of football.
I'm sure you're at least partially right here, but I would suspect that "evaluating MM" is more trying to drive his price tag down at this point.

I have two issues with what Jerry is doing right now:
1) It really sets you back in the coaching search if you dont bring MM back.....Yeah there will always be decent HC names out there, but you have to fill out the rest of the staff too, and many of those names are going to be gone.
2) Other coaches see this situation too...Not that guys are going to boycott the Cowboys, but if a coach has options why would he go to the team that plays hardball with guys already on staff? Jerry has had a history of not letting coaches out of their contracts to look at other opportunities, but blocking guys who aren't even under contract in a couple weeks? Again this puts not only MM in a bad spot but everyone down the staff...

This is an outdated business philosophy we are seeing, and most reputable businesses in modern times who care at all about their employees over profits wont operate like this, and the longer it goes on the more Jerry is going to tarnish the reputation of the Cowboys within coaching circles. Not saying theyll struggle to fill any roles, there will still be a line of people wanting these jobs, but you wont get many A candidates.

Okay, maybe clicking on the tweets would answer my question, but I have no interest in twitter, other than to ask, "Why do different people repost the same tweets in threads?"

I bet the Bears didn't even call. It was McCarthy's agent using a fake voice trying to make Jerry believe McCarthy is wanted. The plan worked with Garrett a time or two.

LMAO! If he wasn't fired after that GB debacle he surely will be given a new contract. It's all about comfort with Jerry. He is going to sign Mike but he just needs to figure out an excuse to sell this to the fans. What a clown organization! They are run like a circus.

Quote from Florio ..

"It’s unclear whether that means the Cowboys will be giving McCarthy a new contract, or whether they intend to take full advantage of their exclusive negotiation rights with McCarthy.
However it plays out, here’s one prediction we’ll make — the team will leak or announce word of McCarthy’s future during Sunday’s Packers-Eagles wild-card playoff game."
If they do, what a joke!!!!!!!! Leave the focus on the teams that are playing in a deserving game

Jerry doesn't need til the 14th to evaluate Mike. That's bs. He's seen what he is. This waiting is nothing more than HIM making fat Mike beg for his job. This isn't about business or winning. It's personal to Jerry. It stems from the GB playoff game. Jerry rolls like that. We all know it.

I also think Jerry knows what he will do but is getting off on the begging, speculation. Make no mistake, he's got coaching candidates in mind. I have severe doubts that MM will be back. Jerry is enjoying this. He's a thorn in Mikes side and gonna make him come crawling or he's then gonna kick him to the curb on the 15th.

This is pathetic. What did McCarthy do to earn an extension?

It was supposed to be a prove it year. Yes the team had some key injuries. But the team played it's worst ball early in the season when it was mostly healthy.

How does winning a few meaningless games down the stretch against bad football teams warrant an extension?

This team will be competing with the giants next year for last place in the division.

Jerry doesn't care about winning as long as this team stays the most valuable franchise in sports.

Belt is a huge Dak fan... Wonder if it crossed his mind that the QB could be to blame for those scenes? Nah.
Honestly don’t listen to or follow the guy but agree Dak a major issue in the scenario. At this point the pyramid of Jerry/Stephen, Dak and whatever coach is broken

This man cannot deliver us a superbowl
He can’t deliver us to the championship game

So what is the point of keeping him around? Even his good seasons so far have been failure! Humiliation in the play offs and needless penalties constantly.

He has to go!!

I think it is poor strategy. They should have already made this decision. The best coaching candidates will likely be locked down by the time they make a decision. Even worse if the Cowboys decide to bring him back and he rebuffs them.
I agree that it is a poor strategy - they are missing out on others by waiting for sure...I was simply stating that I think this is more the way that Jerry is operating business wise VS him trying to be spiteful to MM.
