Cowboy deny Bears interview request

To put media pressure on Dallas, to tip there hand so they could feel pressure to make their decision before the 14th vs wait it out. Negotiation leveraging. Jerry might want him back at his cost, and MM might not want to. Chicago interview might increase demand which might increase his price tag.

The media pressure was already done. If McCarthy doesn’t hire don yee, I’d bet very heavily there’s no Chicago interview, that glazers and others aren’t reporting he’d be coveted by others (he’s only been asked for an interview by the bears btw), that’s already the negotiating leverage.

If Dallas knew McCarthy wasn’t interested in coming back at a price both could agree to they don’t block the bears. The delay in announcement is likely the cowboys and Mike figuring out exact terms on the deal, what staff is coming back with him or should they prioritize (most of them or all are on expiring) etc

Life goes on. Jerry is full throttle heading for the cliff and dragging the team and fans with him. None of us should want to participate or even want to watch this show.

Just a quick overview...

Losing seasons as Cowboys head coach:

McCarthy: 2
Garrett: 1

Playoff wins as Cowboys head coach:

McCarthy: 1
Garrett: 2

Number one seeds as Cowboys head coach:

McCarthy: 0
Garrett: 1
Correct me if I am wrong but all three of those losing seasons were when the team had a long term injury to the starting QB. For as much as we want to bash the Cowboys, that's actually kind of impressive.

Not gonna lie if I'm like I'm testing free agency unless Jerry ponies up about 15/year. The boys aren't close to winning anything. They are a Dak injury away from being bottom of the NFC East, and Dak gets injured yearly.

I hope he tells JJ to stick and sign with the Bears! His style of coaching doesn’t fit well here!

MM at some point will not need Jerry’s permission to go to the bathroom. In about a week he can sign with anyone not a thing Jerry can do.

For a guy without a contract soon MM can play his cards right and be signed elsewhere for a hefty raise by mid month ,

Jerry is just using the time to evaluate MM and make his decision on whether to resign or go a different direction...not sure why so much vitriol on this one...Jerry is a businessman and he's using the contract protection to its full advantage...yes it sucks for MM and for us fans but as many have said this is the business aspect of football.

Clown organization. We are never gonna win a Super Bowl as long as Jerry is alive .
But we did win Super Bowls with Jerry 3 of them in the 90s. The problem is Jerry and Stephen are inept executive managers since free agency and salary cap management came more into play mid to late 90s. They consider themselves multi-taskers and they suck at it, let alone the distractions with their other business ventures associated and disassociated with operating the Dallas Cowboys. The Jones' are the dark side of owning and managing a football franchise family culturally. No one can convince me that ancient Jerry can keep up and focus on all required tasks of competitively sustaining and long term development of the Dallas Cowboys. He is the owner but also a figurehead GM with unbridled power to bolster or neuter this team.

What are we WITH Dak?

Likely not even kings of the (formerly pathetic) NFCE.

I think it is poor strategy. They should have already made this decision. The best coaching candidates will likely be locked down by the time they make a decision. Even worse if the Cowboys decide to bring him back and he rebuffs them.

Aikman endorses him and so do a lot of the players. I'm torn. On one hand we can't score in the red zone, we commit too many penalties, and his clock management is terrible. On the other hand the team does play hard for him and he wins lots of games in the regular season, for the most part. He was set up to fail this year and we all saw it coming.
GB was the final straw, beating the bottom feeders this year and the same problems on offense should be the end of MM. Overall this team was not very good 5 seasons no improvement should make the decision easy for Jerry unfortunately not sure what the measure of success is for the Jones but the last 15 seasons say it’s not playoff success

Can’t wait for the JJ Word Salad of nonsense, however this turns out.

I couldn’t know, but if he is serious about the “inventive based” crap, I’m not so sure they reach a deal.

Jerry seems to be getting worse as far delusion, and the kid just wants the cheapest way out.

That's my point. If he seriously thinks he can get Mike to sign an incentive based deal, especially after pulling this, I think he is seriously mistaken. Also, I hope he knows coaches talk to each other. If Mike tells Jerry to pound sand, I think we are in for a very low quality coach as he'd have successfully run off Mike.

That is an interesting combination. The webmaster chose a picture of Mike McCarthy and Jerry Jones, along with the caption, "The complete calendar of NFL Events, dates and deadlines is set in stone, and the Cowboys know exactly how to manage their offseason entering the 2025 campaign."

I wonder if Jones instructed this particular not-so-subtle messaging based on the criticism he received about his lack/slow managerial action since last offseason--including his still questionable decision-making concerning his head coach? Should it not be automatically assumed all teams know 'exactly' how to manage their offseason?
